Whether you love or hate Donald Trump, I don't care and please do not give me any political redirect as I went digging for this and incase noone else knows yet; he signed an executive order that basically makes what Master Card and Visa performed with Steam and Itch and every other content-distributor; illegal... Well, not illegal-illegal, but if they do it again, USA citizens will have the right to 'cause' trouble for them.

Apparently, a few bankers and investment firms tried to De-Bank him during his 2024 run. He's on the war path and so far, this has been beneficial... Til then, I think Steam and Itch can breathe easy for a while; though there is still the threat of them coming back.
Edit: Something was too vague.

The White House, or the administrative branch of the US federal government, is responsible for federal policies.

US Congress, or the legislative branch, is responsible for making laws.

General public financial services including payment processing are under Congressional oversight.

Progressive Democrats and Independents in the House of Representatives have been proposing regulations for years and years because its their job to deal with the nation’s banks. Congress created the FDIC. It reports to Congress. Payment processors are essentially supplements to banks and credit unions.

Conservatives in both major parties typically resist regulations that protect regular citizens and small businesses, so it’s not believable they suddenly care about anything but interfering with accountability for their own businesses.

This executive order reads yet like another of Donald Trump’s attempts to pretend that he represents all three branches. He kind of does with how Congress and the Supreme Court are sucking up to him; but letting him overthrow the US Constitutional government has its own problems for us within the masses, you know?

Trump isn't doing shit that would help us. This has nothing to do with Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, PayPal, Skrill, Stripe, Dwolla, et cetera. They are not banks, credit unions, or unspecified "financial institutions." They are wallets and payment processors, which are different beasts entirely. This is another bullshit movement to make sure Trump, his companies and other assholes can keep their money in whatever accounts they want to and cannot be denied opening new accounts. Politicians have never given a flying fuck about normal people and they never will.

Basically; The can't deny payment's for any reason involving religious beliefs or political beliefs and have 3 Month's to follow through and change the EULA or else.

Folks here are claiming he won't do shit because we still don't have the Epstein List or they just hate the guy. I would rather take a win where we can get it and I'm not so sure he'll sit back on this one and the carriers got hit with a stock-pirce drop because the phone lines were tied while other gamers are now turning their scripts on their heads when calling a call center... which reminds me, have you called MC or Visa today?

and all I've been seeing are folks taking a shit on this with the exception of those who upvoted the topic, which I do thank. All I wanted to do was draw attention what was happening and what might happen.

It’s interesting, if unsettling, how this is playing out.

My criticism is that every EO as legislation is a bad sign for the balance of power and general health of our federal government. The White House is certainly doing this to protect the moneyflow for Trump businesses and partners, not for the general populace in unrelated trade, because that’s always how the people around this oligarch operates.

But maybe the EO will end up helping us? It is possible.

i don't get the rational.

A bakery can deny service on religious ground but a processor or bank can't do that. Based on what?

And banks didn't gave him loans because of his reputation.

Besides, the current is against porn in any way. So i can't imagine that the president would fight for porn if his base is against it and its written in the pamphlet 2025 as well.

This is good news

No matter how much i dislike Trump, i do trust some of his judgement when it comes to Business/Economy decisions

He's bankrupted three casinos, has been disastrous for the economy, and this bill has nothing to do with economics or business.

(+2)

Right. He’s the only president of this country whose namesake company and whose children and friends he put in charge of it were convicted of business fraud. Repeatedly.

We shouldn’t forget the scam called Trump University, for no other reason that he was afterwards put in charge of the Department of Education. Twice, despite degrading educational systems the first time.

His Florida resort is notorious for failing health inspections and for holding stolen classified federal records in insecure rooms with known foreign spies walking around.

Apparently for a tax write-off and other financial reasons, he buried a golden casket maybe containing his ex-wife’s ashes in an unmarked grave on one of his golf courses. That’s a creative con— I’ll give the family that. But it’s not a good sign for their faith in the US economy.

He is constantly taking credit for others’ work and lying about his ineptitude while making decisions that are frequently fatal to vulnerable people.

Much of his reputation as a business person is based on The Art of Deal, miscategorized fiction whose author described as the biggest regret of his life for covering up Trump’s sleazy and incompetent behavior.

He’s like the world’s tackiest mobster.

If there is any widespread benefit to any of Trump’s executive orders from before or now, then it’ll be because of the people fighting to counter the harm they do.

That part is important. We don’t have the federal government on our side, but we have each other in self publishing and personal purchasing. We’re a pretty big demographic.

Well until they ban porn with the bill that's currently making its way into law.

(+3)

They kinda can't ban porn. There was an attempt to ban it age's ago in the USA: Though it failed because of the same problem than ran into with Prohibition with Crime Lords and other vendors taking control and corrupting the cities of Washington DC, New York, etc.

Legalizing it, on the other hand: They were able to make laws on what kind of booze could be sold, control alcoholic content, still get their tax money and people were more inclined to follow the law than to oppose something that denied the right of it.

A lot of gun owners in the USA that purchase their weapons lawfully go through the channels to own their weapons and even go through the background checks as a means of self protection or hunting or anything else. When it came down to the smut that could be sold, legalizing it to what was ok, what wasn't and so on was far better protection than what any politician in a diaper could bitch about in open forum as there are folks who follow the laws in what smut is ok, what isn't and they still get their tax dollar off of it.

And if it's being done because of 'OH, LACK OF BABIES MADE' or 'PROTECT THE CHILDREN!!' The former is an issue between Men, Women and our mass amount of issues between each other from the hell Social Media brought between Dating Apps and the controversies involving the 'Tea' App and the new 'TeaOnHer' App. The latter; people who engage with this shit going to far are being hunted down and are usually killed within the first few weeks of incarceration if they are discovered. Even then, everyone is pointing at the hypocrisy of Roblox now and the shit they are letting happen after they banned someone TRYING TO FIGHT THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE ON A WHOLE PLATFORM!!!

... Right now; everything feels like someone is running away and trying to get away with what they can because the law caught up with them and their Black Swan Event they tried to trigger, mis-fired and blew their hand off. Now they are trying to cover their asses and run for that private jet to escape the consequences before they get shot out of the sky.

So the problem here is that you've missed key things that aren't in the post.

Sec. 3. Definitions. (a) The term “politicized or unlawful debanking” refers to an act by a bank, savings association, credit union, or other financial services provider to directly or indirectly adversely restrict access to, or adversely modify the conditions of, accounts, loans, or other banking products or financial services of any customer or potential customer on the basis of the customer’s or potential customer’s political or religious beliefs, or on the basis of the customer’s or potential customer’s lawful business activities that the financial service provider disagrees with or disfavors for political reasons.

Herein lies the problem. "Political or religious beliefs" would not include hosting, purchasing, or selling nsfw stuff It can be your political belief you should be allowed to, but there's a key distinction between that and hosting it. It might be litigated that that constitutes practice of religion, but they'll lose in SCOTUS (if not beforehand) on first amendment grounds - specifically freedom of religion, allowing processors to refuse to handle transactions that violate their religion.

Companies are also not forced to actually disclose why they're refusing to work with anyone. They could simply not work with anyone that hosts NSFW content. And even if we know that's exactly why they're doing it, it won't matter.

Not to mention that other court cases have actually legislated in favor of discrimination on 1st amendment grounds - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masterpiece_Cakeshop_v._Colorado_Civil_Rights_Comm...

Does anyone know how will this affect the things that have already been delisted?

Supposedly, to re-index everything. But folks are throwing shade over all of this and all I wanted to do was give some information what was going on.

Long story short, Master Card, Visa and Paypal are holding vendors funds hostage in an attempt to de-bank them for reasons whether it's for power or they are being poked by someone. Basically for religious or politcal reasons, you could not debank people. If you are debanking someone selling smut claiming it's not right for religious reasons, that goes against the order and they need to knock it off. If they are debanking a political opponent of any kind for any reason (Such as a Democrat wanting to debank a Republican or independant party in ANY election of ANY TYPE) they have to knock that off too or get in trouble. If the smut can't be sold because of the children, that's more of a parental issue dealing with their children, not the government's job.

The EO was to state to knock what they were doing OFF. Considering the OTHER adult games have yet to be re-indexed, they are still working on it. Hopefully with Discover or SOMEONE or SOMETHING else as the one payment processor that gives these reasons the finger could overtake both MC and Visa and they would not be able to stop it.

.... BUT, even if it's hopium, I'd rather cling to good news of any kind than to mentally snap and break society apart. XD

(+1)

I fear that these Karens are winning with censorship, we might not see games get reindexed :(

(+1)

They aren't.

From my view of it, the Karen's are looking for control. They are winning the battle with business and I do believe folks need to keep flooding MC and VISA with new phone calls to break their dialogue trees and keep their lines gummed up; but they are losing the battle with the people: Daily.

If it's not madam savvy they are attacking, it's going after Rumble, X and Elon, Trump, everyone who refuses to them and men though to be frank, they have a heavier beef with men than they do with everything else though I think guys are just a blip on their radar for whatever control they are seeking.

They aren't winning the battle with the people as everyone is calling them out and is still calling them out. Quite frankly, they have nowhere to run and the moment we have a method to break this new attack vector of their; they hold no more power. You want a better example of their losses, they have been trying to stage attack posts against themselves across different forms of social media and blaming everyone else hoping we'll reach emotions and read headlines before we reach for logic. A lot of us have picked up on that and it's not working anymore, for most of us that is, I can't speak for everyone; but  attacking yourself and blaming others for the harm you inflicted to yourself is just sad.

I do admire your optimism but its hard to rally when the big banks are not budging. Censorship groups have high budgets and can just wait out this current storm of complain calls, while developers are left in the dust with lower and lower sales. It would be cool to see alternate payment processors emerge but I don't think a duopoly is going to crumble very fast.
