End life plan
The game will stay downloadable, and the source code will remain on my Github, reachable from the itch.io-page.

Transparency note
All assets were made during the jam, except for the "Level Up" sound, which is a stock sound that I believe was used in Theme Park World/Sim Theme Park. Of course, it's most known for being the infamous "bwoink" or Admin PM sound from Space Station 13.

Honestly, a work of art. A true masterpiece in the modern age. Should be put in a gaming museum. I am giving all 5 stars and would give 6 if possible.

Developer

Thank you so much! The sixth star is behind a paywall, you just gotta donate 50 bucks to itch for a pro account. It'll be worth it, itch will never go down or die

Submitted(+1)

Just a teeny tiny bit loud at the end there, but I believe I picked up on the subtle themes that you were hinting at.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad to hear that the art of reading between the lines isn't a lost one

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, that was fun and all, but I couldn't finish the game, the servers shut down when things were starting to get interesting, right as I met another player!
Wish the dev held servers up just a little longer.

Developer(+1)

no kill game :(

Simple 2D action platformer RPG. Is that right?

Anyway, good work! Controls are fine but I find you cannot die, least I haven't tried to purposefully.

The ending, lol~

Developer(+1)

Oh yeah you definitely cannot die, thanks for playing!

The game idea itself is really good! However, when I climb up the ladder I can still do the walking animation. Also, when I am standing on the ground...I am not really standing on the ground. There is a little gap between the ground and the player...maybe the collider of the player is too big. When I am standing in an enemy, I dont get damaged. But, cool sounds, style and idea! It was fun to play! Thank you! :)

Developer(+1)

Ooo I never noticed that part about standing in the enemies. I wonder why that happens, everything else I know exactly. Thank you for playing!

"This looks cool!" - I thought.

"Oh who is this guy?" - I thought.

"WAIT WHAT" - I screamed.

Developer(+1)

Hahahaha I'm glad to have gotten the intended reaction

Submitted(+1)

Oh, what the heck, what a surprise ending! Nicely done!

Submitted(+1)

Clever ending! I was so shocked by the other guy. My chat always jokes how my next game should be an MMO RPG, so I was wide eyed when I first read the description! Good job:)

Nice jumpscare at the end, this was nicely put together.

Submitted(+1)

Background music fits the style of the game perfectly :D. Good choice!

Submitted(+1)

Great job! I was starting to get into it when the ending hit haha

Carries across the jam’s theme superbly. Congrats!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool! Gets the point across really well! When is the multiplayer server coming out? Great job and good luck with the jam!

Developer

Thank you! In true SKG fashion I'll just let some desperate soul who misses the good old days make a private server. And then in true Corpo fashion I'll sue them

Submitted(+1)

Good point, you have to make a living somehow!

Submitted(+1)

The end surprised me lol

Submitted(+1)

This was pretty fun! If I had to complain I'd say the movement speed is a little too slow, but the charming MS paint artstyle and ending really make up for that one issue.

Based posting source code with MIT license enjoyer. Reminded me of playing shitty free MMOs as a teenager (especially stuff like kingdom of loathing). Good ending!

Developer

I forgot all about Kingdom of Loathing! I never played it myself but I did check it out for a little bit. Maybe it affected my subconscious enough for me to rip off the art style.

Submitted(+1)

The ending was fun :D

Submitted(+1)

Love the game, fits the jam perfectly and the chat feature was a nice touch! Having more people running around saying stuff would have been cool but in a way it made the ending more shocking.

Submitted(+1)

oh no i was going to rate this badly 😭, until i saw the appearance of a jumpscare in the comments, and i was like wtf. i thought it was a troll, but turns out i just got stuck in the leveling up room. a text like “KILL THE ENEMIES TO LEVEL UP AND TO UNLOCK THE NEXT ROOM” would have been better, since some people would just get tired of killing the enemies and stop playing.

but i’m glad i watched the ending, because it was pretty cool. good job :D!

Developer(+1)

Oh GOD yeah that'd be way better. That or just a progress bar. I could just as easily have added one. 5 minutes of laziness before moving on to the next thing can lead to hours of regret, kids
