Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
The character gets stuck in the tutorial level with variation. He desperately wants to get started.

The platforming was not that polished but did a good job, feels a little buggy but thats probably intended. Good work!

I think the platforming could be a little more polished, but, the history is super interesting and kinda creepy! GJ :)

Developer

Thank you! The story was originally intended to be more creepy but I made Devi Omega a bit too goofy at the end.

I liked the art in the game, but I didn't like the platforming too much. A few ways you could make it better is to make the acorn things still activate when you jump a few frames before you hit it. it's still a fun game

Submitted(+1)

I like the concept but honestly, I don't really like the air jumping mechanism. Imo, the chestnuts hitbox should be bigger and its activation time also could be longer.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I will try to work on control more next time.

The boss music?! Sounds like something straight out of a Zelda  title - wow! But the controls (つ╥﹏╥)つ killed my spirit. Extremely sensitive, and at one point, I kept getting knocked back to the same point because of a lack of control. I love that you added story to your game; I just wish I could finish it. Good job (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

Thank you! I died a lot during development too. I think I should spend some time getting other to test next time.

The intro made me feel guilty for something i didnt do :(. Cool storytelling! But couldnt get far tho (got stuck at the wall section). The acorn mechanic sounds good but i think it can be better implemented, currently you need to time the jump button as soon as the acorn is within area, the problem is it disappears if the player touches it. Maybe have the acorn persist even if the player is touching it (similar to cuphead's pink parry bullets) and also increase the size of the acorn to make it more forgiving. Also would feel great if the movement speed is reduced a lil. Makes it easier to hit the acorn. Cool concept and has lots of potential!

Developer

Thank you. I will try to do a better control next time.

The music and art are lovely and I like the idea of the acorn double jump mechanic here with it though the speed makes it feel a little difficult to control but even with that it is fun to play. :)

Developer

Thank you! Most artworks are from the asset pack. I drew Victor and Devi Omega’s portrait as a last minute pixel art.

The acorn mechanic is inspired by cloud step in The Messenger. It’s a good game to study how to make a good platformer.

The controls feel a bit clunky at first, especially with the acorns. I like the message and the fox guy looks pretty cool

Developer

Thank you! I have a hard time with the control myself too. The movement code is taken from my abandoned project and it wasn’t really intended for precision platformer. ansimuz’s assets are really awesome.

Great art and soundtrack. The controls felt a bit slippery, but overall a very solid game

Developer

Thank you. ansimuz and Marllon Silva do a really good job. I hope I can reach their level one day.

Feels a lot like Celeste, I loved every second of it. Also, I really like the message against piracy

Developer

Thank you! The game is mainly inspired by The Messenger especially the magic acorn mechanic. I made the last stage a bit more like Celeste because I didn’t have enough time for the new mechanic. I’m glad you like it.

The later platforming was pretty hard lol I couldn't see where I was gonna land sometimes but I managed to beat it

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! To be honest, I couldn’t see if the ground was safe during playtesting too. I think I have to work on that next time.

And I thought my game was hard lol. Good platformer with high difficulty. The controls are really sensitive and you have to be really precise, the story seems surprisingly dark though. Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! The precision platformer is slightly unintentional because I didn’t have enough time to implement another mechanic so I had to work on what I have.
