Nice simple cozy game, though took me awhile to unlock all the flowers, plus sometimes I could not triger the flowers weather I pressed repeatedly or on the beat, I hink there's issue with your rhythm sync system or maybe the radius to detect button press is not configured porperly or there was something invisible in front of the ui that prevented it from receiving mouse button press which is a common problem with ui elements.

P.S ,thanks for playing my game, I have uploaded a new build for my game minus the bugs and plus some new collectibles, pleas check it out.

Yeah, the timing is a bit tight to make the piano sound good whenever a note is triggered.  One thing that would improve the experience greatly would be some visual feedback on clicks that aren’t timed properly (maybe “Early!” and “Late!” pop ups or just a different, sad particle effect), so it’s clear that the input isn’t being ignored.   Or being able to tell when the input is actually ignored by mistake.

You said you were able to unlock all of the colors eventually, so at least it seems that clicks weren’t entirely broken for your browser type or something?

Love the tulips and how they change colors when proceeding to the next level :)

I'm glad you enjoyed!  Thanks for playing :)

The synergy between the colors, music, and design in this game just feels right. I really liked the idea of discovering rhythms through the different colors, but I feel like that concept could be explored a bit more. Maybe I’m missing something, but after figuring out the color sequence, there didn’t seem to be much more to do that day.

One idea I have here could be discovering new rhythms by mixing different colors, and maybe having a kind of achievement book to keep track of what you’ve found. Like you already did but with more complex shapes and let the user set the discovery pace.

It’s clear you’ve got real talent when it comes to music and visuals. The way the piano notes goes with the user interactions really gives the game that final cozy touch. I loved playing your game! (Amazing name choice by the way)

Yeah, you're right that there's some empty space in the middle and end of days after you've achieved the combo.  I considered unlocking the next sign immediately, but I think forcing players to slow down and just play/experiment with the flowers that they have available now (including the new one just unlocked during that day!) fits the chill, lazy vibe more.  Or have a bit of time to just sit and watch the scene change, without even worrying about the flowers.

As for rhythms, I explored allowing "off-beat" clicks (like, eighth notes) as well, during a combo.  It felt a bit too hectic for the pace I wanted though, and representing this on the combo meter was going to be a bit of extra work that I decided wasn't worth it.  I also considered black flowers playing two eighth notes instead of a single quarter note as a fun twist for the final flower.  Deciding what notes to play would have been kind of arbitrary though and the current five intervals of [root, third, fifth, seventh, octave] for the five colors (the same intervals used in the background chords) was hard to disturb.  Maybe for a sixth color!  All that said, I think there's definitely space for some more interesting rhythm here.

Thanks for playing and for the fun discussion both here and on your own game :)

Yeah i like it! Such cool mechanic. Also i like that here sounds of this flowers are syncing together, and it variable from different start points. Overall really good and relaxing experience.

Developer(+1)

I wanted the flowers to feel like an instrument you could play, so I'm glad you enjoyed the variety that I managed to work in.  Thanks for playing!

I agree with a comment posted here before too, being able to find combinations myself would’ve been so fun too! But I must say, even without this feature, this game is surprisingly addictive, even if trivial to play. Great job!

Developer

I think a collection of additional combos is a great suggestion.  That would give the "end game" which is currently just jamming out on all of the flowers a bit more structure.

Thanks for playing, and I really appreciate "surprisingly addictive, even if trivial".  This is exactly the vibe I intended, and I'm happy you feel that way :)

I like how you can unlock different patterns, very much on theme with a nice new twist. Will there be more content planned for the future?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

I don't think I'll add any more content to this one unfortunately.  There's a few things that I think would fit great as additional features (most of which people have mentioned in comments here, like a larger list of arrangements to discover / create), but I'm happy with it in its current state and will likely spend my time on other new projects and jams since I've only recently started focusing on game dev more seriously.

Really good idea ! Got me wanting to sell everything and buy a tulip farm honestly....
Good work !

If only Stardew Valley had tulips and windmills ;)  Thanks for playing!

OMG, this game is SO relaxing! 😌✨ The perfect mix of chill vibes and satisfying gameplay!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the vibe, that was the main goal of this project :)

So relaxing, a rhythm farming game is such a cool combo. I never would have guessed that those genres would have worked so well together! The timings were kinda tight (or I'm just really slow with a mouse lol) but I got the hang of it eventually and had a great time playing!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I did tighten the timing requirements a little more than I intended from a difficulty perspective.  Since you're directly influencing the music here by playing a note with the click (not just timing a click to match a note), it was sounding bad if the window was too large--like the note didn't belong in the music.  I wanted every note that played to sound reasonable as a part of the music, so the timing had to tighten up a bit.

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Ah that makes total sense. It did sound really good when I finally nailed it!

I really liked the rhythm, and I found the mechanics very simple and intuitive. I played all the way to the end—I even reached the black flower :D

However, I would have liked to feel more challenged between the levels.
For me, the best aspects was the music volume control. I always appreciate when games include this kind of settin. it shows respect for the player.

Developer

One idea that never panned out was having an "end game" arrangement that required a very long combo--long enough that breaking the combo would likely mean finishing it would be impossible that day.  But the color randomness when growing new tulips would become an issue for having the right color available to continue the combo, and that kind of difficulty wasn't aligning with the super cozy summer vibe that I wanted.

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed! :)

Super cozy game, I'm very impressed by all the art and music being completely original.

On the first day I thought I could unlock new flowers to grow by experimenting with combinations of existing ones, that could be an interesting mechanic to explore as well.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

By "unlock new flowers by experimenting with combinations", do you mean more than the existing five colors of flower? Something less guided than the signs?

I dabbled with the idea of having a much larger "collection log" of arrangement combos that sound good, which would display between days.  Ran out of time, though :)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Not necessarily, I meant that all existing five flower colors could be unlockable from the start by experimenting with already unlocked flowers to find the right combination and unlock the "formula" that way - rather than unlocking with passing days and the player seeing the "formula" automatically.
1 week is so short, I had to cut a lot of things I wanted to do as well :S

Developer(+1)

I see.  I worry that people might not realize why a new type of flower suddenly appeared after many completed (but not relevant) combos, and then a relevant one suddenly.  I suppose theres some feedback that could be given to try to communicate that, but I like how one color of flower per day makes the player slow down and just experiment with the colors currently available, or even just have some time to let them grow without clicking on them, and watch the sunset while they have nothing else to do!
