Game Description
The King's Mayhem is an intuitive, yet punishing game, where timing, patience, and precision are key. This is a slightly "easier" take on the precision platformer genre. You play as a little red square, navigating through tight and tricky levels to find the "throne room", and put an end to the chaos in the castle, all while avoiding the bouncing chaos balls, which are essentially balls of death.
How does your game tie into the theme?
Every level you go through presents a chaotic distribution of bouncing balls that the player has to dodge in order to finish the level. But with a keen eye, you can spot controlled patterns in their movement, which allow you to evade them effectively, therefore, a "Controlled Chaos".

I played the impossible quiz and maze when I was younger this brought back PTSD but i enjoyed it great job!
Lol thanks! I've played those games too, and they were honestly pretty terrifying/difficult. I can see the resemblance!
Loved the faces on the shape, and had a great time moving from level to level.
Thanks, I'd glad you liked it! The blinking square is a notable one!
This kind of game takes me back to the flash days of old, the series of "Do not press the button" where a hero button kills the dragon button, and is rewarded with endless supplies of Pie, to be indulged endlessly to a tune by System of a Down.
I consider audio the top performer of this production, and it used a clever trick to make the death sound: slowing down with death, speeding back up to normal with respawn. It's simple, but I can certainly appreciate it.
The dialogue's presentation is a weak point to tackle. For me, it was a slow moving unskippable text, working similarly to unskippable cutscenes especially when you have to repeat them. That said, this is a UX issue, and for your first jam, UX is hardly going to be something on your mind.
First of all, thank you so much! I was also inspired by certain flash games! I'm glad you liked the audio part.
Second, I really appreciate the feedback, and I 100% agree with you! I made the mistake of neglecting a sort of 'skip' function on the dialog, especially for those who don't really want to sit through all of that babbling haha. Things like that get especially annoying, similar to the repetitive bonfire walks to dark souls bosses, as they take way too long.
I am not a big fan of these kind of games, but I liked the minimalistic style, and the music was great. Good job!
Thank you! I was actually not really a fan of these type of games either until recently lol. I kinda got inspired for this game jam!
Really fun and challenging! I loved the dialogue sound effects and change in music on death
Thank you! I'm glad you liked those aspects!
Really nice, I love puzzle game, especially maze ones, The sound when we die and the eye animation are really good !
I love those kind of games too! Thanks!
Nice and simple, difficulty goes up, nice progression of mechanics, well done!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Very funny! The speaking sound, ala animal crossing, is great.
Thanks! That was what I was aiming for with the speaking!
story was great and the controls felt really good
Thank you! Those were a part of the things I really focused on for this game!
Great little game with a charming narrator!
Thanks! Archulio is one of a kind.
I really enjoy this game, you did a pretty cool implementation and Lvl 5 is crazy ngl XD.
Thanks! Haha, I thought the other levels were kinda short, so I decided to make lvl 5 extra long!
It’s perfect
I liked that there was a story, Sir Archulio Twinklini's sarcasm added some charm, good job on taking a simple concept and making it fun!
Thank you! The sarcasm and simplicity were what I had in mind while developing this game!
very fun game! the artstyle is simple but very clean, I thought the way the character blinks was very nice attention to detail as well, well done!
Much appreciated! I got bored of the static player image, and its eyes would be really dry if it stayed open for that long, so that was the first thing to come to mind lol.
Loved it! Simple idea and very nice implementation. Somehow I did actually read what the Archibald Twinkeldin said (or what was his name again?) - how did you manage to make that text so well balanced and not boring I wonder? Well done!
Oh yeah, the music and the slowing down effect is just the best!
Update: noticed on the screenshot that you can actually win this game! Added to my collection to play it more when I have time.
Thanks! I'm happy you loved it! For the dialogue (Sir Archulio Twinklini), they were honestly just phrases I had in the back of my mind haha (maybe from some odd TV shows I watched as a kid).
Also, thanks for adding it to your collection! That means a lot to me.
Pretty cool
I appreciate it! Glad you liked it!
It's cool how the music changes when you die.
Thanks! It's a fun little detail that kinda popped into my mind.
Fun and simple, and good job of implementing the wildcards!
Thank you! I couldn't do all three because I wanted to add a bit of lore lol.
