However, if itch.io were to get rid any popular game just because it is more popular than anything else, it would cause problems.
1. itch.io would be harmed even more because of unfair removal.
2. Let's say Sprunki and any clones or incredibox games were to be removed here, there would be other games to replace them. What's stopping the topic author from asking similar thing? and this unfair removal loop would be repeated again n again.
If author's games were popular games here, the author won't ask for them to be removed.

I don't mind a game being popular and being on first page.
But for that game I doubt the algorithm really calculates the popularity correctly. The comment section of that game is not used to comment on the game, but as a real time chat. So most of the comment secion is offtopic. People do not go on that page to play the game, they go there to chat. That stuff is better suited for a service like Discord.
