Game Description
Play spell cards against witches!
How does your game tie into the theme?
The metamorphosis of your deck was the original plan, though we ran out of time for explicit deckbuilding. Still - give it a try and see how your card dueling strategy metamorphosizes into a winning one! (On the meta level - there was quite a bit of idea metamorphosis that was not noticed until looking back at the end result.)

Love the music and the RPS twist, it's kinda like the Monty Hall problem as a game.
Thank you! I forgot about Monty Hall problem but just reread the wikipedia page. Yeah, kinda, I can see the resemblance!
A really nice aesthetic here and well suited music to go along with it. An interactive tutorial would have helped understand the cards a little more though I do appreciate there was a section explaining the game.
Thank you!! Yeah, I would like there to be more explanation in some form that's more engaging than the text wall.
Graphics are really cute, was disappointed when I didn't have a third opponent to gawk at the design of. Gameplay is simple but effective, easy to pick up. Would have benefitted from explaining the additional card effects, whether it be another slide on the tutorial or telling me when i hover them/select the card.
Either way, fun and good looking game. keep it up!
Thank you!! And yep, definitely needs better explanations, thanks for the suggestions!
Cool idea for a card battler ! I really liked the graphics and music, I think the deck-building element would definitely enhance the game, still a really great submission!
Thank you! Definitely going to prototype some deckbuilding, I wish we had the time for it during the jam, but oh well... Maybe not being in the jam will mean slightly better code!
This feels like it'd be a solid minigame in some other RPG, something that can get some decent depth once you really can start building your own deck. That second step of seeing what your opponent played and making the last decision is interesting, especially since card not played goes back to the hand, you gain plenty of information about your opponents deck that way which is really cool. That's also some very cute characters, love the game over scene too.
Thank you!! Something I did that helped with the rules was making some quick paper cards, throwing them in real card sleeves and getting some irl playtesting to see how the game flowed, would recommend for quickly prototyping card mechanics. Deck building would be very cool... Hoping I can add it sometime post-jam :)
Fun little RPS style card game! I was a bit lost on some of the symbols (Is one of the grey symbols an underscore? Not sure what that one did)
But the uno-reverse on the element wheel was a cool mechanic
Thank you!! Yeah, that symbol was the most unclear - it's actually a card that negates any other cards played, so, if your enemy played a card that reverses the elemental trio, it would be cancelled out and no secondary effect would apply. If I get time to push some updates my first one will definitely be making the card effects more clear!
A nice core game mechanic! I'm not sure the grey cards are necessary, though - if I understand them correctly, they would rather add confusion than add an alternative mechanic - i.e. is 2+2 different from just 4?
I would also recommend making it up to 3 wins, not 5-6 rounds - it becomes tedious when you have already won 4, but it keeps going.
Also very cute art and great sound work!
Cute art, and neat base for a quick card dueling game! It's unfortunate you were not able to work in the deck building in time
Thank you! Thanks for playing!
We were for sure overscoped, but a little less overscoped than previous game jams. Still, maybe deckbuilding will come later....!
cute art!
Thank you!!
I had to try a few times, but I finally won! :D
I think that some tooltips over the cards could help understand better the meaning of each symbol, also the music stops playing after some time. Still, great art and music, congrats!
Yippee! Thanks for playing!
I agree some tooltips or some other indicator would be helpful, in hindsight the symbols aren't very clear.
Good to know the music stops - I thought i set them to loop but I must have missed something!
The sprites are super cute, and the core game loop is a lot of fun. I liked the progression in difficulty too. The first round serves to teach the mechanics of the game, and then the opponents get tougher.
My only criticism is that the theme didn't really come through. It would have been nice to see the cards themselves morph in some way. Especially since they're based on elements, something like combining cards (trading two for one as a gamble) could have added additional challenge.
But the gameplay was already a great take on the rock-paper-scissors concept.
Thanks for playing!!
I agree the theme didn't come through as strongly as I wanted - deckbuilding was going to be a metamorphosis of the deck, but it turns out, was overscoped feature/time wise... I also had the thought originally of having a way to make the cards change element but then realized it wouldn't fit easily into the rest of the game project without some refactoring. Would like to add one of and/or both of those if I get some more time to add more stuff though!
Super cute art! Good job
Thanks for playing, and thank you!!
the pose on the loss screen gave me a good chuckle but then I almost went 8-0 against the second enemy.
oh and the music has some very satisfying percussion sounds.
Thanks for playing, glad you liked the loss pose and music :)
There is some randomness to the second enemy's strategy, many times I was destroyed in playtesting but I can see that happening. Maybe I should make her cheat a little though... hmm...
I really liked the idea of having the step inbetween, choose one of the 2 chosen cards after you've seen the cards of the enemy - it allows you to play more strategic
Thanks!! There's still some randomness at the end of the day, but we tried to make it a little less random than a pure rock-paper-scissor format!
I love the simple concept and the universe but the game definitely lacks clarity ( ◠·◠)ა
Thanks for playing, and yeah, I agree - I am thinking on ways to make the rules clearer, and easier to pick up than reading the text dump in the help menu!
I really like the art and the music for this. The gameplay though was rather confusing, Im not really sure what the difference was between the +2 effect and just having a card with a higher number on it. Also it wasnt super obvious that the - sign meant the lowest card wins, I would suggest putting the symbols in the help menu next to the descriptions. Pretty cool idea though, Ive been thinking about RPS like games too and this is cool
Thanks so much for playing, and glad you liked the art + music!
I appreciate the feedback on gameplay being confusing, I'm definitely going to brainstorm a bit on how I can make the gameplay more intuitive. The +2 actually matters because the - sign means it negates other cards, so hypothetically you could run into a scenario where the negate card prevents the +2 from applying, which I realize now is definitely unclear!
