How does your game fit the theme?
"Cuts Both Ways" presents the player with a typical dungeon crawler style game, with character upgrades after clearing each stage.
The "two points of view" comes into play when the player takes control of a standard archer peon and has to fight the character they built, showing the perspective of an NPC against a strong player character.

A good attempt for a first game!
The theme might be a bit of a stretch, but this time ok😊. The color palette was used.,,check.
I liked the upgrades and the inclusion of some sound effects. Personally, I would have loved a background music track to add to the atmosphere. Graphics are simple but effective.
Overall, a solid entry—nice & keep it going in next games! 😊
Really good entry and game, cool mechanic and a really good point of view of the theme, this coul be a really cool game with more levels and mechanics to the enemies x3
Excelent game.
Interesting take on the jam. For a first game if i understand you correctly wel done. I would increase the movement speed i the star a bit (i know you have powerups) but moving and attacking felt a bit tedious.
Solid entry to the jam
concept and gameplay cool plot twist at the end with role reversal is also quite interesting and well executed the only minus is the low quality graphics you clearly need to find yourself a 2D artist to help you
Good game. I don't see the relationship with the theme two points of view, but the game was fun.
This is the kind of game that I can see myself definitely come back later to play a little bit more.
Great idea! I like the upgrade system, it’s a good challenge for players, even if I’m not good at it. Well done, and keep up the good work!
The mechanics and upgrades are really fun, though I'm not very good at it. Good job.
This is a really good take on the theme gameplay wise. I liked having the ease of upgrading to get a glimpse of the end, just to get demolished- then avoiding upgrades to make the end easier. This ebb and flow with difficulty is a very inspiring take to challenge, and I love it! Having no music fit the game nicely, kinda like a samurai showdown. My only gripe is that I wish blocking was mapped to the right mouse click, and that some of the sprites quality were improved. Again, I really like your approach to challenge!
Very nice idea! I liked the idea of increasing health or speed also I like the block move! Well done!!!
Take a look at ours

This is a great start! The challenge increases at a good pace, the variety of chasing melee and stationary projectile enemies adds some depth to the combat, and the option of increasing your power at the end of each stage adds a sense of progression. The twist of having the player fight the character they upgraded at the end is a creative use of the theme.
My suggestions for improvements would be to increase the sword swing animation speed, add some anticipation frames for the enemy attacks, and map the blocking controls to right mouse.
Keep up the good work!
