A cool game, I really like the aesthetic and the sound effects are very juicy.

Well done :]

Beautiful looking game with high polish. It took me quite a while to workout how to get to the upgrades menu but made it much more fun to play after I worked it out. I would suggest making the bounce bullets and the double split bullets just as strong as the first one as when it felt like I was suppose to be upgrading, it felt like I had become weaker and taking longer to defeat the enemies. Also noticed that the enemies would get stuck along the walls sometimes, so maybe incorporating some kind of path finding to take this game to the next level. Overall, great job!

I don't think it was that the new weapons were weaker, its that enemies also grow in hit points half as fast as the player does. So by purchasing an upgrade(any upgrade) the enemies gained an additional health point. I wanted the enemies to be able to "evolve" also, so they wouldn't become irrelevant in the later part of the game. As for the stuck on the walls issue, I wanted to implement pathfinding, I'm just not sure on how to get it to work in construct at the moment. I used it and it did nothing. I even watched a few tutorials on it and it didn't seem to work correctly. So, in light of timing I just made them stop on solids, otherwise the enemies would have hit the wall and then jittered all around. Thanks for the comments on the polish. I wont a specific aesthetic(spelling?) with this game which was "organic" so I hope i kind of hit on that a little bit.

Great job. Everything worked nicely and was just all around neat. I must ask about the inventory though - why make it right click only if you actually have to press the button? Took me a while to figure it out, lol. But that's it really, your work is excellent.

Developer(+1)

I made it right click because I couldn't get it to not shoot when clicking on the icon to open the upgrade menu. I know in the long run it wouldn't have been aa huge issue, but it was something I was trying to learn and just ran out of time. It's something I plan to fix in the future. Thanks for playing and your kind comments! Very much appreciated.

Really neat game! I included it in my XanderJam 3 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

very cool idea, good use of the theme and good art! I like it! Felt a bit slow, and I super upgraded before leaving level one so wasn't too hard, but great game overall

Developer

Hey, Thanks for playing! I agree it does start a bit slow, it may be because for the jam I lowered the difficulty a good bit. I wanted players to be able to complete the game fairly. I will ramp it back up after the jam.

Thanks JudgeClark!

Verry good game. The animation of the cell when it move could be just squash and stretch in the direction from left to right of the cell to provide a better impression of speed. The shoot is a bit slow too so it was difficult to aim (and you must add a crossair and hide the mouse cursor). Otherwise your arts are goods. Well done

Thank you for your comments. I had a player squish but ended up removing it because it didn't feel right. I plan to revisit that in the future. The game does start of a bit slow and is a bit difficult, but as you progress thru and purchase the new weapons and upgrades its get significantly easier. I totally meant to add a cross-hair and forgot, thanks for reminding me.
