I couldn't figure out if I wanted minions with lots of HP or speed. A small damage popup when a minion is hit would be nice to have, so the player knows how much damage each enemy does. Also designing some of the levels or parts of the levels by hand should solve the RNG problem (e.g. have RNG minions spawn points, but hand placed minions on choke points). Also, I feel like the shop should always have 1 big guy and 1 fast guy available to purchase.

Anyway, the game overall is very fun to play and most of my points are small nitpicks that are pointed out in case you want to expand your idea after the jam.

Interesting Idea and fun to play, but i would it find better if you can reset the way of the Tiger-Snake when you have done any mistakes. Also would be a rearangement of the minios great. Art and Music are beautiful.

Resetting the snake is an interesting idea, although maybe I'm a horrible person but I sort of like the punishment for making a mistake of having to watch all your minions repeat it, haha. I could potentially allow for resets on a limited basis though, like with a consumable item. I've been thinking through rearrangement of the minions and I may experiment with that instead of random. I have to figure out if it adds interesting strategy, or just presents a "this is always the best order" situation. Thank you for playing and thanks for the great feedback!

neat game, but I felt like the difficulty spike was a bit too harsh. I needed to get keys but my 50hp guy was just getting one-shotted by 3 unavoidable knights. I'll try a fast-spawning minion only strat and see how that turns out. There's enough room here for a lot of strategizing which I like. Also the music was awesome! Great game, well done!

Thanks for playing! It sounds like you fell victim to the RNG, which is something I need to find a way to combat. If 2-3 knights spawn in a chokepoint it's often a run ender. The only real way around it is to focus on weenie-spam instead of big boys, but it's often too late to correct. One thing I'd like to add in a follow-up is spells that can be cast during the execution phase, where you can disable a tower or freeze a minion, which should give the player a way to get past bad situations like that.

I like the visuals. The animations work well. I like the tigersnake idea and visuals. I really had to "train" myself that you could cross your own tail, but I think that was a very good decision to allow.

I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay. The concept is nice. But I don't really feel "in control". I don't know the range/damage of the towers. So planning the path is sort of a wild guess. The execution phase also quite long, and that's just waiting for the result. And then after the result, it's hard to analyze what I could have done better.

Also, small thing, games that require to switch between keyboard and mouse interaction can be annoying for some people. Works fine for me on my laptop, as the touchpad is close, but with a mouse+keyboard is breaks the flow.

Overall, I think it's a solid 7/10 for a jam game, good job :)

Developer

Thank you, this is great feedback and I really appreciate it! I'm going to add an overlay to the snake mode of the game that shows the tower range so you can avoid it more easily, and a speedup button to reduce the waiting in the execution phase. I'll also be adding full keyboard support to all screens. I'm not sure if there's a decent way to make the snake navigation mouse-only though.

The game is very strategic on how to make the path for the enemies to reach to the next level without dying. I really enjoy how simple and easy to control. Everything is very smooth.

I also like the background music and sound effects. It has a unique vibe, especially when it comes to playing tower defense. Although this is backwards, it is still more than enough to give the vibe.

But yes, like Szym, the only thing I can say is that to add the speedup button. Overall, I'm impressed how you made the game. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing, glad to hear it sounds like you picked up exactly what I was going for! I will be adding a speedup button for sure.

Very nice game ! Works well with the theme.

Everything plays smoothly. The difficulty is well balanced and the random shop is a very clever touch.

If you want to push the game a bit further after the jam, I would recommand to add a button to speedup the rounds (it can be a bit long to unfold near the end).

Great job !

Thanks for playing! You're definitely right, a fast-forward button is #1 on my list of follow-up additions.
