The graphics look awesome. Works well as an interactive experience and the atmosphere you create here is fantastic. If you have the time, add sounds and music! :)
The art/sprite work in this is just fantastic. Great work.
@Shortee: Aye, perhaps I should've explained the timing mechanic explicitly: Each obstacle has a few "danger" frames which it's unsafe to pass through during.
In Act I, the fire flares up when the rum drop lands on it. in Act II, the duelists are dangerous during the slashes. Walking by right after these events happen gets you safely past.
In Act III, the overhead icons are Eyes, indicating that an officer is close enough to see the first mate Arrow (and any Black Spot being handed him). If a Watcher is Watching when you give the Spot, Arrow's thrown in the brig and Israel never makes it to the mutiny scene in Act III. Furthermore, Arrow drinks from his secret bottle when out of sight of the officers. You get a different outcome if he's drinking also, so "beating" this level requires patience as well as timing.
Hope that cleared it up!
I really liked the art and storytelling. Sound would've been nice (but the time, I know :) ).
One thing I really didn't get was the gameplay. I always cought fire in Act I but once and I don't know how I did it. In Act II I never got past the dueling rogues and Act III I didn't understand at all. I delivered but didn't know what the (time?) icons above the peoples heads meant. Nice game overall but felt a bit unclear to me.
Thanks all! Appreciate the comments and glad you enjoyed it!
I promised play it and I wasn't disappointed. Wonderful design is strong point of your entry, I'm amazed when I look for it ;) Storytelling is strong in you, come to the dark side... ;D Seriously - it is great job, you had to put a lot of effort in this. I felt only lack in audio, but I know how difficult is fasten everything to the last button before deadline ;))
Wonderful pixel art, and great section of the story to use in conjunction with the theme.
Such a well made little game. The art is just amazing!
Really nice game!! Nice atmosphere. I included it in part 5 of my Public Domain Jam compilation video series, if you'd like to take a look :) http://youtu.be/_BCTeiOyGDE
I really like the pixel art more than anything, especially the main menu which was particularly detailed. Good work, and good choice of material, too.
