Nice little game. Although the concept is not novel, the resulting game is still fun to play. I just felt like the turning mechanic was a bit forced to fit the jam's theme. Perhaps it could be useful if you added some more depth to each level by adding some elements you need to find in order to progress (like a key, for example). This might highlight the turning mechanic as you'll need to explore the level rather than traverse it in order to progress, going from a linear level to a more complex one (in my opinion)

I'ts very cool

The controls and gameplay feel really solid, and the pixel art and background music are great! Some details in the background would be nice rather than just a flat colour. Also I found the "trap" areas were a little unfair. But other than that it's a really solid entry and I enjoyed playing it on stream :)

Really like the idea of this, especially adding in a double jump.  The level design was great.  Well done!

Yeah, great idea! Loved the “turn around” mechanic, I’m hopeless at platformers but even I was able to play a little through the first part of the game. The instructions pasted against the background worked a treat, and the simple cute graphics were engaging. Great job for the time available!

nice game. only critique is that the spike hit boes does seem to be very large . I died here and it felt like I had enough room.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I've been told about that, the hitbox of the player will be custom polygons in the update to the demo after the gamejam

Quite a fun take on the genre and the theme the art is very well done I think that it looks really good. One complaint is that the hitboxes of the spikes might be a bit to big I sometimes die even is I'm not touching them. Overall great work!

Developer

It's actually the player's hitbox, since the player's hitbox is just a square, but I'll try making the spike's hitbox smaller too

This is nice! Very smooth gameplay and seems very polished.

Thank you! I really appreciate it! If you haven't read the page, I'm also planning to make a mobile port for it!

Very good proof of concept. The movement felt fluid and smooth. Good Job! Can't wait for the full release!

Developer

Thank you!

great music, great color palette, a purple platformer… hard to argue against

I like the tile art too

I have 2 suggestions for improvement:

  • could use a bit more leniency on the spike hitboxes, they feel very unfair and you die before you visibly touch them
  • something in the background: clouds, walls, moon, stars, random patterns… anything

Yep, I'll take these into consideration, thank you, when the full game is released, I promise you, you'll love it, if you do buy it that is

The art isnt outstanding but it's pretty good for this type of game. Hitboxes are a little... off (?) on the spikes (sometimes i clip them without actually touching them). Music is fine, controls are good, can have a lot of replayability with the multiple levels available. Overall probably not my #1 pick but still pretty solid! i may not be one to judge since i'm not great at platforms and i dont play them much, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the feedback and I'll take this into consideration for the future of the game. And, thanks for the compliments!
