The graphics and the main gimmick itself were incredible, and the game was pretty light overall since it was made on Godot, so that’s a nice bonus. I didn’t really like, however, how long it takes to dig to the next point, and how faded the mining spots are on the map. Idk, maybe the other games I played were too quick, but it felt contrasting compared to other submissions. And I’d have done the final jumpscare slightly different, it didn’t feel scary because I already assumed I’d die in the end and each transition to the next point felt less immersive. But maybe that’s just me. Overall I really liked the atmosphere, and the tone was set just right. The story was refreshing and original too, even if it was told in two paragraphs. Congrats on the game!
Congrats on your submission! I noticed, the credits and the intro both took up way less space than my monitor so a lot of it was the grey-ish "background color" in Godot. I have an ultrawide monitor. 3440 x 1440, but the actual gameplay was not affected by this and looked normal. Only those 2 screens were top left aligned.
The first time I was playing through, I punched in random coordinates, because I wasn't sure what I had to do and was able to go outside and there was nothing to do, it was very hard to see much of anything. I could go to the side of the drill but there was not anything to interact with and trying to go to the dark seemed to have like an invisible wall. So I went inside the vehicle and tried to go to a cluster of green dots and I got a system error message on the terminal inside the game. Good I thought, I'm getting somewhere now. When I went outside, it was black and I couldn't see anything at all and had trouble getting back inside. When I got inside, there was nothing to do and I couldn't see outside to do anything, so I closed and restarted the game.
This time, I tried heading straight for the green clusters and I wasn't getting an error and I was not able to go outside. I kept punching coordinates on different sides of the map thinking maybe I had to dig for longer but it never let me out of the vehicle and I wasn't getting the error on the terminal, so I don't know if I caused a different kind of bug.
From what I got to see, I liked the design of the vehicle and the PS1 like dithering. It felt claustrophobic and getting out of the vehicle was unnerving.
It would have been nice to have a representation of yourself on the map to see where you were. After punching in numbers over and over, I couldn't remember which numbers I punched in so I punched in coordinates that I was probably really close to because it only made the digging sound for about 1 second and stopped.
Wow, I really liked the game, the graphics remind me of ps1, Yes, and I enjoyed spending time!
Thanks for playing! Happy you had fun.
Definitely one of the most original and interesting premises for the jam games I've played. Experimental approaches to horror are the best. This oozes atmosphere and I love the sci-fi premise and inherent claustrophobia, punctuated by the slow pacing. This can be a bit repetitive, but when things go wrong, there is that dread, especially of having to exit the drill and go out into the cold, lonely emptiness of the tunnels to fix things. Definitely immense potential to build on this, as others have said, some quality of life fixes could help. But fundamentally, the game achieves the tone it sets out to create: there is the player, there is the machine, and there is the sense that in this job the player is resigned to, they are really cast out into the fringes of human survival, alone. Enjoyed the special encounter with the visitor at the end!
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Those are huge compliments to me. Glad you liked the ending as I didn't really think it was anything to write home about when making it, but we are our biggest critics i guess. Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed!
I can see the IRON LUNG inspirations. Big issue is I wish I could press a button or click on the map to get a better view of it or the green cluster would be more easily noticeable cause if your not looking hard enough they kind of blend in with the map. Would of also been nice to have some idea of where I was located on the map and much like another user said I ended up getting a black screen when I exit the drill for a second time.
Sorry to hear that, I should really get looking for the cause of that bug. Really tried to present as much information as I could diegetically cuz I hate having UI that's not at least in the world space pop up, but still need to work on making the points of interest pop. Thanks for playing and I hope you were able to complete it in a different playthrough despite the bug.
NP, and thanks for playing and rated my game
A slow burn, but a good one. Really "digging" (Ha, get it) the aesthetics.
I had to check the hints on your page because I had a hard time finding the green specs on the map (Although to be fair, I am kinda blind sometimes). But I really enjoyed it, kinda gave me Iron Lung vibes.
Thanks for the kind words! Definitely a good decision to put the hints page there lol. I noticed I'm definitely developing a style that I like more and more as I keep making games and I'm glad to hear it's a good one.
I was stuck for a long time at the beginning, lol, maybe because of a lack of intuition, but anyway, I found the game interesting. Maybe if it made it a little clearer what needs to be done right away, it would help new players a lot.
Good game, good luck to you.
Glad you figured it out! Thanks for your feedback.
I appreciate the experience!!!

I will say I couldn’t finish the game because I was a bit lost on what to do inside but I managed to get the first blackout. Fantastic visuals and especially audio design, really liked the feel of the game, reminded me of this submarine game I saw Markiplier play ages ago. What would have helped me I think would have been a position indicator on the grid, or a clearer indication on where I should go (Also which is X and which is Y cos im dumb and always forget). Think a walkthrough of the first position would do wonders, you could then have whatever system it is that’s helping you die to tie into the setting.
Also bonus points for the greatest jam credits I have ever seen. Very good entry.
Thanks for the feedback! I tried to add to the spook factor by playing on the feeling of not knowing what to do, hence throwing the player in there with little instruction, but sorta knew it could backfire so I added a hints section in the description. Still have to work on that aspect of the game lol. And thanks for the recognition of the credits! Been doing it like that for a while instead of something easier because I like it and I'm glad others do too.
I got stuck on a pitch black screen after I left the drill for the 2nd time. Went out > in > out and just black, can't interact, escape just let me have my mouse back but no pause menu. The aesthetics and vibe are very iron lung-esk and I love it!
Sorry to hear that! I've never come across that bug before but I suspect it has something to do with the flashlight not coming on. Could be related to double clicking the door or something. I hope you were able to complete the game in another playthrough despite the bug. And thanks for the kind words! Iron Lung was definitely an inspiration during the making of this.
Yeah I replayed it and didn't experience the bug again. I did experience a collision bug in the drill with the wall next to the computer, got stuck but was able to shake myself loose after a minute of button mashing haha. But the sound design is perfect, the visuals are fantastic, and that tunnel is the PERFECT amount of spooky! I would love to see this idea expanded further!
Yea you know how finicky Characterbody3ds can be lol. Thanks for the sound design recognition as well, I really tried hard lol.
