Just waiting for something bad to happen! I included it in my compilation video series of the ‘So Bad It’s Good’ Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Funny :3

Humanly possible to achieve a 100% optimal speedrun on this

Couldn't execute it due to TPG Maker 2003 RTP error with itch desktop app. I wish I could have more time to debug and play. So I can only judge by the cover, which is good because I've always loved the scare-prank maze games. Making an impossible game get the player ready for the scare. Is there?

I couldn't get the game to launch. I added "FullPackageFlag=1" to the ini file and got "Cannot open System2C file." Seems like the download is missing some sort of file when I try to launch it?

Developer

Hey TenshiHanka!

Have you installed the RPG Maker 2003 Run Time Package? RPG Maker 2003 need it's default template files in order to function. :(

Alternatively if this doesn't work, there's this project called EasyRPG which is meant to port RPG Maker 2003 games over to other platforms other than Windows PC. You can install a windows executable file from the link below and the move into the game file folder.

https://easyrpg.org/player/downloads/

Next time I release another RPG Maker game I will make a version with the RTP included.

I apologize for this inconvenience but I am thankful you are willing to try out my game.

Ah, thanks for the reply. The first link was able to get it working. I think I saw it before but didn't download the 2003 from there.
I was able to play through the game just fine! I like how you can just say "no" to the congratulations screen lol.

Thought this game would be 2 scary 4 me, but suprisingly. I managed to complete it without running away in sheer horror.

Well done on submitting a game!

This is some scary stuff.

I've decided to try using a standard format for all my feedback this time around. Please excuse me if I come across as overly curt or miss something important about your game. I'm writing these all quite hastily as there are a lot of games in the jam this year!

What I liked

Maze game made in RPG Maker is a neat concept

It didn't scream in my ears or break my computer

What I didn't like

The graphics are absolutely hideous

There is no sound

The levels get uglier and more tedious the more the game goes on, without actually getting more difficult

Did I think it was so bad it was good?

No. It's always hard to say this, because I don't like being a downer, but this was just bad. To me, the best "so bad it's good" games are undeniably awful, yet still have some kind of appeal. Maybe the gameplay is awful, but incredibly funny, or maybe there's a good or really bad story, or maybe the game should be terrible but is actually really fun. This is not that. It's an ugly, annoying, tedious game that felt like a waste of time to play.

My thoughts on the modifier implementation

I'm assuming the modifier was not implemented here.

Other remarks

I spent half the game expecting a jumpscare which never happened.

The page seems to have references to some horror film but the game itself doesn't.

I'm amazed the RPG Maker 2003 RTP installed at all.

Verdict

Just bad. Sorry.

If you have any questions, comments, queries or concerns, please reply and I'll do my best to get back to you.
