Really impressive effort. Felt a very complete game. Thought the gameplay was fun and interesting and really liked the tool system. Though I'm not 100% sure about the chanting mechanic. I ended up writing down a cheat sheet that mapped a given spell to the numbers I needed to press. I think with the time pressure, trying to remember spells is quite challenging, particularly if you don't have good short term memory. Perhaps with a more gradual tutorialization you'd be able to internalize the sequences.
This was hilarious and great. Could be great in VR too (like job simulator for Necromancers). Loved how items would be highlighted, which made the controls feel great. The sound (Especially spells) was GREAT!!! Loved everything about this - a real gem of a Jam game. Well done to all involved!!!
I really like this! Overall it's a really polished little experience. I'd definitely suggest adding some drag to the rigidbodies to prevent them rolling on forever. I also agree with Miltage, a chaining system for the spells would be really nice. But honestly, would be cool to see this developed further - could make for an interesting streamer's game.
Hi! Just a reminder of this rule: " To be eligible to win any of the prizes, your team has to play and give feedback to five other entries by Monday, 5th October 2020".
So if you haven't done it yet, you still have the rest of this weekend and Monday to give your feedback!
Thanks for the reminder :)
This was super-cool.
I had the very same gripes as @Miltage with the spell system, and he covered it really well, so I won't repeat.
I loved the little touches, like being able to pluck the lute to change the soundtrack.
Nicely done, really cool mechanics and a really interesting take on a memory game. Only major issue I encountered was that it was forced fullscreen and I only have a 21:9 monitor, so some of the UI elements went out of frame.
I agree with the idea of shortening time between syllables, or cancelling a phrase in case you start with the wrong one. I often found myself slowly going through each syllable to remember which was where.
Overall, really well done!
Loved the concept! A little rules-heavy but once I got going I started to have quite a bit of fun pulling out daggers and raising the dead.
Most of my gripes are with the spoke-aloud spell system. I don't know if I would obscure this from the player. Not knowing which syllables are bound to which keys results in a lot of trial and error and when you do hit a wrong key you have to wait a good 5 - 6 seconds for the spell to reset and in a game where every second counts this is painfully long.
Finally, I'd cut down the time between uttering syllables. Once I become familiar with the combinations I wanted to chain them together in a second or so, but found myself having to wait 2 - 3 seconds between each key press.
Otherwise, a charming little game, well done!
Haha really fun game!
I can see this becoming something people play on Twitch! Best game name in the comp in my opinion. It's catchy and makes sense.
Good use of the theme as well! And fun music. Really fits!
Some suggestions for improvement.
- Add a aiming reticle dot in the middle of the screen it's easy to see where you're pointing.
- Add the spell words and associated key presses to the hud.
- Maybe stop players from being able to throw their equipment out the window or under areas you can't get it back from.
But awesome effort! Well done. :)
This theme is the cutest!
