One of my favorite games from the jam so far! I love the simplicity, I tend to be bored quickly from having to read in rpg maker games, so this is right up my alley, pure gameplay.
The graphics, audio and gameplay all match each other perfectly, feels perfectly retro.
If the main menu and font felt more custom i think it would be hard to tell this was made in rpg maker.
This deserves an update after the jam for sure, would love to see it expanded and polished more :D
This game was a blast! I only (barely) made it past level 4-1 before my own inadequacies with timed puzzle games got to me 😅 But I did have a lot of fun with it!
It's possible I didn't play far enough, but I was sad there wasn't a point in my playtime that I could spend my hard earned gold on something. Powerups, skills, etc. But I know goblins collect gold just to collect gold, so my guess is that was a design choice, which is totally fair.
I also didn't notice until around level 4 or so that if you die after collecting gold, you lose all that gold from the level. It could be nice to either have the gold respawn or maybe you just lose like half your collected gold or something like that if you die.
Lastly, I think the only potential bug I found while playing was on level 4-1. Up at the top of the level, the walls to the side of the key could be walked through. Might be a pathing bug, or maybe that was intentional and I missed something.
Overall, despite how bad I am at games like this, I'd give it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!
A nicely done action game! Some of the stages were a little hard depending on how the slimes decided to move, and the flying eyeball is absolute nightmare material. I felt pure hatred swelling inside of me. The cutscenes also felt consistent with the art style of the tiles and were a pleasure to watch.
My final score was 1466. For those perfectionists, it may be user-friendly to offer a selection upon death: redo or reload. Also, may I humbly suggest to have the default volume set below 50% of what it is now.
Really fun gameplay and the visuals/map design plus that killer synthwave ost are giving me 80s arcade machine vibes just without all the quarters lost, love it!
I hope you're able to add to this one after the jam, I can see myself getting lost in this for HOURS tryna get a perfect run in every level.
I love the art style and the music is pretty funky. This is basically pacman with a goblin hoarder theme. Gameplay is pretty simple and easy to pick up. Love how you ease the player into all the different mobs and mechanics. This is a lovely little title with an awesome theme and story. I did not expect to our little Goblin Boy to be the hero honestly. Was pretty funny.
(PS: Level 4-1, there are two block to the left of the key that you can pass through and break the sequence)
Also, I hate that flying eyeball....
