The slightly isometric view and the battle screen make the presentation really striking! The stealth gameplay felt somewhat unpredictable, but also acted as a nice alternative to conventional battling. Using the throw mechanic also created some nice instances of puzzle solving!
Unfortunately, the game's short length does make it difficult to comment on much else beyond those elements. The plot setup does seem interesting and the intro sequence was effectively stylish, though I think it could benefit from greater elaboration early on. It does work to effectively bring the player quickly into the gameplay though, so that exposition can understandably come later in the plot if a more substantial build is produced.
This is a great framework to build on!
Yea I usually avoid to make long intros, I like throwing player into the meat of the game as soon as possible. But you're right, there's a lot that I was still not able to introduce.
It's also a shoot in the foot, because usually exposition is an easy and cheap way to make gametime, which I struggled with, as you can see haha! Also random battles, which I also decided against because of the design of the game.
Thanks for trying it out!
This wasn't one of my games for Round 1 as a judge, but I decided to try it out anyway, and I gotta say: this was impressive. I really enjoyed what you had here, just wish it weren't so short, or that we got some more of the story before it cut off suddenly (It was just starting to get interesting)! PLEASE expand on this. I'd love to play it again some day!
Thanks for submitting your game. We were really impressed by the custom art, battle system, and overall presentation; it truly went beyond expectations in those areas! We unfortunately have to disqualify it due to the game's very short length. The experience was just too brief for us to fairly evaluate it within the judging criteria.
That said, the project is incredibly promising, and we’d love to see you keep developing it. You've clearly built a strong foundation with a lot of care and talent, and we hope to see more of it in the future!
Understandable. Thanks for the notice.
Short but sweet. I'd love to play a full version of this when it comes out. It's such a cool concept with cool character and enemy designs. I loved all the custom pixel art, this game looks amazing. Don't even know how you managed to do most of the things shown in this demo. There's so much passion and work put into the design, I just wish it was longer. Which I see is a common complaint here. But don't get discouraged. People like what you have and surely they'll like what you put out. Good luck in your future endeavors. I look forward to seeing the development of this.
Thanks a lot really. About the future of the game, I'm still deciding what to do, I have ideas for it but I also have many things I need to finish, so still figuring out the uhh "timeline" for when I'm going to get all that stuff done lol! And as such, figuring out where this game will fall in my schedule haha.
Love the custom art and unique perspective. The throwing bottle to distract enemy is also a good stealth mechanic. Too bad the game ends too early, it has solid foundation.
I have lots of regrets since I focused on systems and art, and the time I had left for actually making game was too little 🫠 bad time management.
But I also didn't want to leave it under a rock, so despite how bad it is to get disqualified for not following the basic rules (15+ minutes), I decided to push it through the door with at least something.
I hope it at least gives people a bit of fun. And thank you to anyone playing the game.
I need more of this game. Why :'(
I love the visual! I didn't think it would end so early but it really pretty. The game mechanics looks promising, but I had difficulties moving and moving because of the isometric environment (Im just not used to it). The UI/UX in general looks really great
Just a five minute demo so there's not too much to say, but it has a compelling concept and the visual style sells the cyberpunk dystopia setting. I'd play more.
Good luck with this project going forward!
Oh, man, I was enjoying this. Just a tutorial and one fight. :(
Yeah, sadly I was only able to do about that :'). Time and stuff. Hope at least the idea of the game came across, that was my main worry (besides getting to 15 minutes of gameplay).
