  • Extremely polished and charming game, hitting the themes bang on in a clever way. With a little added event variety and a more legible font option this would stand out as a really solid game.
  • While the aspect of the game feels like another 'rinse and repeat' sell the drink you crafted kind of game, you definitely took this in a different, more unique direction in my opinion. First the gameplay; this was simple, easy to follow and after some trial and error, my reading skills kicked in and I remembered to add the ingredients to the large barrel and concoct the correct drink for them. I also like the added section where you can upgrade the store, buy ingredients, etc. Very fun additions to the core play of this game--not to mention the way you have to specifically craft things just because law enforcement shows up the following day after the news breaks. The storytelling, while simple and to the point, very effective. For the themes, shadow made me think back to the world you had provided; giving the feel of 'secret societies' based on the newspaper and 'elemental effects' based on the stats of the ingredients available and how they'd affect the drink creation. For alchemy, I thought 'transformation', 'combination' and a bit of 'synthesis' honestly. Every bit of detail that went into this stood out quite nicely, and I was honestly hooked on trying to make the most accurate drink based on what the customer 'wanted'. Lastly, the artistic style...where do I begin? Pixel art for the characters, images, environment, menus, all of it, very, very good stuff! The music was soothing, made me feel immersed while playing, and the sound effects were so good as well. Especially the barrel. Very funny, but aesthetically pleasing all the same. I will be playing this a bunch more, so keep up the great work!

Incredibly polished game. Love me some 3D pixel art. The visuals, the music, flawless. Small nitpick about the font which could be changed to a more easy to read one in the tutorial segment, but later in the game where the texts weren't that long it wasn't an issue.

Thank you for your feedback! :)

A well executed, beautifully presented project that i spent and hour playing without realizing xD

Did notice the added values of an ingredient not correctly being applied to the brew. Which is kinda a big bug due to that being the main gameplay mechanic.

Other than that, a job well done :D

Developer

Interesting feedback. Thank you for playing :)

We tested all game mechanics before submitting and was sure this one was well worked. Would be nice if you tell us on what time it happened and with which ingredients. It would help us find this bug :0

I noticed it mainly with toxic ingredients not applying the reduction and increase of toxicity.
The one i remembered clearly was adding an eye to add a bit of toxicity, but it adding 0. Maybe it happend due to me adding milk first and it going into the negative, but i'd assume you clamped it 0 to avoid it.

Might also be that is purely visual.

In regards to what time, i believe it was on one of the last day or two, well into the game.

Yep, if you put the negative into the value of zero, you still see zero on the bar, but if you hover mouse to him, it shows the actual value. But I agree that this may not be obvious to the player. If we find any good way to show this visually, we will make it.

Thank you again for your feedback :)

Super fantastic game! I really enjoy the art style and music. Really addictive gameplay as well. I think 2 minor changes would make this a game ready to be published tomorrow.  I think the text should be changed to be more legible.

I also think having a "Bitterness", "Sweetness", etc. logo next to each bar would make it quicker for the user to place ingredients. I found I had to keep hovering  my mouse over the empty bars to remember which one was for which attribute. This may just be a personal choice for me.

Developer

Such a good idea! We have only the color for each parameter, but the icons can help more for players. Thanks :)

Wow! That is polished. This is basically a complete package. Actually seems release-ready. Everything fits so well together and feels natural. Slapping ingredients into the mix is so satisfying. And its all done within the theme. Only change I'd recommend is making the text font more legible. One of the top entries I've seen yet.

Thanks! If we find more fittable font we will replace it :)

Thank you 😊

Wow the completion of the game. It seems like it ready to be a full release already!

Great art, mechanic are nice, loved the game a lot! My slight suggestion was that it would be good to also have the bars color coded before I add anything to it. Also the extractor and combiner(?) was a bit under-power to use , the animation also took too long for me.

But other than that, good job!!!

Developer

This is a very reasonable comment. You are right, the combinator and extractor need to be reworked now. After the jam is over, we will change our approach to them.

Fell in love with the GFX & the constant sprinkles of humour throughout the game.
Very well done.

Wow, what a fantastic game! I love the look of all the characters and I enjoyed the sense of humor. This feels like a full finished game. Well done!

Tea Bear made me laugh.

Haha! I knew that someone noticed my work with these easter eggs :)

This was actually -really- fun, I liked the art style, 3D elements and animations (the drinking glass was satisfying to watch every time for some reason and it was neat to add the ingredients to the barrel), the vibe and the progression, polish. Maybe I'm just exhausted from the jam that took me a bit to notice the currencies and their differences lol. I just wanted to buy new things!! The barrel animation made me laugh but after a while I hoped I could skip or speed it up. I found myself playing for 30 minutes and wanting to see more of the bar's evolution so good job.

Holy shit this game is amazing, this is a finished game!

The art is gorgeous and the game play is nice, the animations are fun. The music and audio is also very well done. Honestly this is probably the best game I've played in the game jam so far. Well done! You guys should really be proud!
