Description
Orchestral composition for a fictional fantasy adventure/exploration game inspired by games like The Last Guardian where a woman discovers a dragon, a being no one has seen in centuries. Throughout the game, she tries to get its trust climaxing in a sequence where she finally gets to ride the dragon.
Total runtime is 5:03
The main theme (The White Dragon's Melody) mimics their curiosity for each other, building towards a climax where a bond is formed, not fully secure at first but as time goes on they open up to each other.
The second track (Lost in the Meadow) represents a theme for an exploration sequence in the middle of the game when the woman and the dragon have gotten close to each other but there is still some distrust.
Both tracks were composed in Ableton and mixed in Reaper, with the virtual instruments being mostly Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphonic Orchestra + Addictive Keys for the piano.
Composition mostly came down to finding a sequence in the piano I was happy with and progressively layering orchestral sounds to accompany it.
For the mix I didn't do much, it ended up being mostly volume automation with slight EQs here and there, a Valhalla Vintage Verb was also used in a return track to give the sound some cohesion and a sense of space.
Message from the artist
First time doing a game jam of this style, this was fun!
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
Used the title to signify the importance of the dragon and the picture gave a sense of their relationship.
Both her outfit and the dragon's horn jewelry pushed me more toward a big orchestral fantasy sound.
