Description
This soundtrack tried to capture environmental or cinematic moments rather than characters or battles, for a game that may feature combat, but movement and exploration are its cores. Symbiosis with your dragon companion, or a search to find one; a theme of appreciation and awe should pervade this game.

I composed each track using Musescore 4 and imported MIDI from my keyboard, which is why I didn't upload PDFs because they're not readable by sane musicians... it was fun! My submission consisted of three 1-minute pieces:

"Crystal Lairs": Representing the dragon's resting grounds, this track takes its sound inspiration from Final Fantasy 10 (see: Mushroom Rock?)
"Over the Stars": An ED, credit screen, or resting theme, this track is sparse, but carries a distinct rhythm and chromaticism. The beauty of individuality, and your reflection in the night sky. (see: Pokemon cities soundtrack chromaticism... )
"The Last Dragon Dance": My original scope for big, epic orchestral fantasy tracks were quickly dashed after the first two hours of scoring work, so this was my compromise. A waltz which builds intensity, a climax that may not necessarily end in bloodshed, but still demands a demonstration of skill.

Message from the artist
Had tons of fun ripping my Pokemon and Final Fantasy 10 brainrot for these tracks!

Theme

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
At once uplifting and dramatic, with tracks of serenity and the fear of falling and the unique beauty of being so close to the stars in the sky. My tracks tried to capture a solitary, plucked-string traveler who is trying to deepen their bond with nature.

Wow, your writing is really good!

I was thoroughly entertained by each of these pieces, probably even more so than the preceding one. I definitely liked The Last Dragon Dance the best out of them but I enjoyed each of them very much!

I appreciate your thoughts, thank you! :)

I enjoyed the harmonies you used! My favorite track is Crystal lair because it sounds so cute. I feel like it would be even nicer with strings in the background. And I also like your orchestration for Last Dragon Dance. I'm so glad that you found inspiration through Final Fantasy and Pokemon!! The music is soo good.

Thank youu I appreciate it! I could hear soft strings being added to Crystal Lair, I'll try it. Thanks!

Over The Stars: Minimal, pretty track. Love the melodies, and that instrumentation helps connect to the theme.

Last Dragon Dance: love a good chromatic descent. Ooh, love when it builds up in the middle. I like the anticipation at the end where that V chord doesn't resolve until two measures later haha.

Crystal Lair: more chromatic descent! The percussion towards the end really helps add the crystal feel from the name.

Great work!

I appreciate your thoughts on each track, thank you ^_^

These are very well made! I am in agreement that the last dragon dance was my favorite.

Developer

Thank you, I appreciate hearing that ^_^ (and it's my favorite too lol, wish I had time to expand/work on it more)

0:50 in The Last Dragon Dance I want to be an entire song, or at least repeat that part a few measures and introduce a melody because that part is very strong.

Nicely done!

I like the theme across your three entries and can really feel the groove in the slightly sinister string melody in the last dragon dance. I visual that each can represent. Nice job. :)

Thank you, I appreciate it!

THE LAST DRAGON DANCE SLAPS! So great when the waltz kicks in, really nice arrangement. I'm also a sucker for the chromatic voice leading in the bass. Your music really reminds me of the Spiritfarer soundtrack or Okami. It's gentle, sparse and you give space for every instrument to be properly heard. (Is that a Koto I hear? It's a vibe)

Developer(+1)

It's a shamisen, and thank you! I love the Okami soundtrack, "The Rising Sun" is a huge inspo for this jam's theme. I loved your submission too!
