Description
a soundtrack for OST Jam #7!

a hidden world is a cozy exploration game where lily escapes a mundane/kinda sad reality by creating new worlds with art.

1. everyday life - a sort of intro/main menu theme to represent a quaint, everyday setting.

2. creation - help create drawings and what sketches to bring lily's worlds to life! maybe you generate a unique map and characters based on your drawings! that'd be cool~

3. up in the clouds - one of the potential worlds you can help build and discover! you can fly! there's lots of flying creatures! wow!

4. hidden in the sea - another potential world! explore a wondrous deep sea world filled with magical creatures, and really really cool fish!

***

this whole soundtrack was made in musescore, using musesounds (and audacity to create fade outs :P)! i'm usually a big reason user, but musescore is also shockingly powerful and fun, and the sounds really speak to me!

i wanted an excuse to do more orchestral/chamber music since i haven't done a lot of that recently (it's a chamber orchestra, really cuz why not). there's a mix of understated "slice-of-life"-esque pieces and grand, orchestral pieces. (ignore my notation, it was just to get the playback right!!)

i hoped to have a few more worlds, but such is the way of the jam! i would love to develop these tracks further, but for now, enjoy! <3

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
when i noticed the sketchy versions of the fish paired with the more realistic art of the girl, i thought maybe the girl creates her own worlds with arts as a form of escapism. there's also a mom figure; maybe her mom is away and life is more mundane without her? maybe the two drew together?

Really liked the quick flutes in up in the clouds!

Everyday Life: The ambience with weaving string and piano is so calm and gentle, but feels so full. This is a great menu theme!

Creation: The use of many interplaying instruments one at a time seems to embody the freedom with which an artist has when facing a blank canvas and can create whatever they want with whatever they want. I like the playfulness of this track.

Up in the Clouds: The use of the trill as a motif is fun and gives the feeling of loftiness and flight. The balance with mostly woodwinds and plucky bass feels like the right orchestration for this track!

Hidden in the Sea: Harp for the sea is a great selection! This song has a nice flow to it with all the wind instruments and high strings. The imagery conveyed in the music is definitely that of an underwater world. This was very relaxing to listen to.

Overall: This is a nice selection of very well-composed pieces. It would be really awesome to hear what the rest of your world sounds like! The musescore sounds have come a long way, as the quality is fantastic! I’ve downloaded your tracks and will be listening to them for inspiration in the future!

A very lively soundtrack. I get a lot of Breath of the Wild vibes from Creation. Up in the Clouds has a very pleasant lift to it. As each track progressed it drew me in more and more. I feel a sense of wonder and excitement! 1:15 of Hidden World was such a wonderful moment! These tracks are so inspiring and I will certainly be saving them for future enjoyment.

Awesome submission! Love your skill in development with little material, especially in "Creation". The instrumentation was great as well. Definitely my favorite orchestral submission thus far. "hidden in the sea" was just outright beautiful.

Are you sure you aren’t a musescore ambassador because this was amazing xD. I like how each track plays an important role in the overarching story: the hazy strings of everyday life, the staccato splashes of creation, the dancing trills of up in the clouds, everything hidden in the sea.. all the while, portraying the childlike wonder from kawaakar._’s art. Personally, I can’t stop thinking about how you pass the trills around in up in the clouds, across instruments and between foreground and background. Really inspiring!

Amazing job. Every single song sounds so magical and inspiring, congrats!

Wow, I gotta take some notes on how you use Musescore! It's crazy how powerful it can be when used correctly. The orchestration and melodies in "up in the clouds" are beautiful. I would've loved to see your other ideas if not for the time constraints of this jam, but what you have here already sounds great!

Oh man, this here OST sounds like it belongs in a Ghibli film! It is so good, I especially like the tracks "Creation" and "Hidden in the Sea" for they evoke a sense of wonder and exploration. Good stuff!

Hi I'm a big fan of you on Twitter :) This is the first time I've ever heard Musescore's library and I love it so much. Every instrument in each song is so crisp and the mixing is great. "Creation" and "Hidden in the Sea"  reminded me a lot of Hitoshi Sakimoto's compositions in Final Fantasy XII, I hope you get more votes as the days go by!

WOW this is so lovely.. your harmonies are so beautiful! and the wind writing in creation is so clean and fun, the way the little melodies get passed back and forth really made me feel like i was drawing little sketchies with some friends.

every part gets its say and i love how dynamic everything sounds, your control and pacing are sooo goooood.

i love the orchestration especially in up in the clouds -- seriously gonna cry over that string voicing section, and the little trumpet melody ughh

i think hidden in the sea is my favorite track -- the way it unfolds is so perfect.  it captured the exact feeling of exploring this deep little world and meeting all kinds of new creatures.  just super masterful.

thank you so much for making this, it's really inspiring!!!

Awesome job! Musesounds' ability to sound this fantastic is phenomenal. I love that you leveraged the legato nature of them to create something with such beautiful and colorful textures. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your tracks and will be revisiting them!

Amazing work! You created a beautiful and calming listening experience all the way through - my favourite track was "hidden in the sea". I am also impressed with the quality of composition and how the last track developed and kept my attention - when the bass notes on the piano hit at around 1:16 it makes for a great moment!

Honestly super impressed that Musecore could sound this good haha! Not a big orchestral guy but I love your varied usage of many instruments. (Esp in creation) It felt like not just the musical phrases are having conversations but the different instruments are interplaying as well. Makes it feel more special and engaging to non-classical ears.
