Description
Orchestral/cinematic OST made in FL Studio. Put way too much effort into this, but made the best music of my life 😎
Please read the other stuff on the page.

Please point out the "bad" things about the songs in your feedbacks if possible!

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
It's on the page but here's a shortened version:
The game is set in a world that has 4 suns, and each sun has a different effect on the world. Suns being of course related to time and stuff... yeah...

really beautiful!! each piece feels very connected to the other pieces, while still having their own sense of identity apart from each other. the suns of nature, water, stars, and life all fit perfectly with the songs you composed for each!

i also particularly liked "YOUR Theme" in "The Final Battle". if suddenly felt super triumphant, like yours was a certain victory against the God of Suns!

amazingly composed, i really liked it :)))

The 4 Suns of Destiny: This is a really beautiful opening theme. It feels like the musical embodiment of an early morning sunrise.

The Sun of Nature: This is a really nice ambient background track that would work really well accompanying the exploration of a bright forest or a meadow glade. The cello solo notes sound really beautiful and it has a nice organic vibrato sound. I like the transition between the different themes in this track.

The Sun of Water: Using choral swells and tinkling bells to convey water is a cool technique. The pitch shifting in the “it appears” theme is a cool effect that makes me imagine diving deeper into the water. The ending of this one is quite cinematic with the heavy-hitting drums.

The Sun of Stars: These spacey vibes work well with the sun of stars in the story. My favorite part is the blasty French Horns toward the end.

The Sun of Life: This feels like the most gentle of the suns. It feels like it would accompany a rest area before the final battle in a game.

The Final Battle: The best transition you have in this piece is with the piano run up to the epic drums at 2:12. Yay, we were victorious at the end of the battle!

The 4 Suns of Destiny (End): Beautiful return of the first track. I find it interesting you chose to end the entire OST on a big V chord. This to me makes it feel like the story isn’t quite over yet. Maybe there is room for a sequel?! The visuals were a cool accompaniment to the music and the music itself was quite cinematic to match. Good job and thank you for sharing!

this is some very majestic work here. i love the overall vibes of all the tracks. the intro was so fitting and prob my favorite just because of how well it set the mood for the rest of the OST.

but seriously this whole project sounds soooo frickin good! great work!

You've put together a fantastic concept and told a far-reaching tale through your tracks. Your music is grand and sweeping, yet somehow gentle as well. I think "The Sun of Water" was my favourite group of tracks, in terms of its mood and choice of sounds/instruments.

My only recommendations would be to let the drumbeats hit harder for greater heart-pounding impact (eg. in "The Final Battle" tracks), and play around with the melodies and chords a bit more so that you sometimes surprise the listener.

All in all though, a lovely soundtrack that took me on a journey!

Thanks for your feedback, I'll try to focus on it more next time!

Hi there!

My feedback for your music: already, this is by far the best I've heard from you. It sounds great.

But since what you're looking for are the negative points (that's how we make progress) here they are:

The 4 suns of destiny:

Watch out for panning. I think you're using BBC Core. Basically, the instruments are placed like in a symphony orchestra and they balance each other out when they're all playing. But when you play the violins solo, they're too far to the left. You can either center or double with violins 2 (and put them on the right) to get a wider sound.

The sun of nature:

Very good, super super well composed, but the melody is unclear. I can't hum it. You could take more risks in terms of melody.

The sun of water:

The buildup is very successful and works well, but once again the melody is a bit unclear.

The sun of stars:

The beginning is a bit long, and the transition to the wyverns lacks clarity. Caution: the piano plays dissonantly (D# over a D chord).

The final battle:

Excellent intro and bold chord progression, the main problem for me remains the melody, which tends to just follow and mark the chord changes.

All in all, very, very good. The images are splendid, there's a story being told with your tracks. But as I've said many times, you're lacking in memorable melodies.

You've done an amazing job in 10 days.

I'm not using BBC core but I'd love to. I'm actually using East West's Symphonic Orchestra and I should tinker with it's settings a bit. Right now I'm only using the stage mic position but most people also blend in the close position as well but that's irrelevant. I almost never think about panning when making my songs so I probably should look into that as well. EW's panning is quite strong for some reason.

Also I'm only using 1 set of violins, no violas because for me they just complicate things for not a big difference but maybe I should put in that extra effort to get a fuller sound sometimes.

I want to work on my melodies starting with my next track which will be my 200th FL studio project. If you have some tips for better melodies let me know (if you want to of course).

The sun of stars thing probably happened because I was doing a bVI bVII I progression, so I was out of the F# major scale and just used the wrong note lol. It's interesting how I didn't notice anything wrong with it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Easily one of the most cohesive works I've heard thus far. I love how you left the storytelling to the visuals and the music. I feel less constricted when I don't have to read through entire paragraphs of lore, and I can instead just sit and enjoy the audio straight out of the box. Musically, I have no complaints. It feels and breathes like a lifetime adventure. The fact that all of this was assembled in 9 days makes it really special to me.

I'm absolutely impressed by the quality of this! Stellar composition job and world-building, this tells a very compelling story from beginning to end. From a technical point of view, all your instruments sound super organic with each one being brought at the opportune moment and they were mixed together very nicely, I can't even begin to imagine how much time this has taken you.

I really enjoy the harmonies you chose, they really sound outer-worldly which complements your thematics perfectly.  More broadly, your choices in composition and arrangement are very creative and it definitely sounds like you have your own style so bravo on that!

The only nitpicking I would give is that some of your strong moments don't sound as strong as they could. Especially when using percussions and horns I would say you can push them a bit further in those higher registers. Layering also helps bring some fullness to the more intense tracks!

Apart from that, what an amazing experience this was, you really took me on a complete journey. Stellar job!

The music is really nice and have a lot of great moments, but I am most impressed by the body of work You present and the way it is structured. It felt like being part of an episode book or story with different sections for the elements and each part with its own story to tell as a part of the whole story. Just like You describe it, so well done in that respect too.

All in all, I really liked this submission, keep doing what You do - this is great!

That's really great! I can say it as a man, who creates such kind of music myself. All tracks are very succinctly, and my ears didn't found anything bad.

Wow. I love the whole thing! Professional work. I would be glad if you win...

Since you specifically asked for "bad" things pointed out (even tho I don't think these are anything important - small details, really) there they are:

The 4 Suns of destiny: 0:33 - strings second chord is too abrupt.

The sun of water: 1:34 - the change of mood is quite big for me.

The sun of start, wyvern Battle: I guess it was a maybe a goal but brass VS piano in this way sounds disharmonic.

Generally, I don't see much of the jams theme in the music.

BUT!

Overall, just wow. So much high quality music in such a short time. Incredible! :)

Just one question at the end: Who made the artwork? It really fits the music and I like it a lot! (EDIT: Ah, found the videos description now 😁)

I totally want to hear more of your music!

Developer

I mostly focused the theme on the story but I could argue that most of the songs have some sort of ostinato going on in the background (especially at the bossfights) which is somewhat similar to a ticking clock but that's quite the stretch lol.

For the sun of water thing, the songs are a combination of an "area" theme and that "area's" bossfight song. I decided to combine them into a single song instead of having many loops so that's probably why it's a big mood change.

Thanks for your feedback I will look into the other two later!

You should be proud at how much you've accomplished in such a short time. This is an incredible track list that transitions fluidly between one another!

Some feedback: I think the piano has slightly too much velocity in every track, it sounds too forceful in moments where its meant to take a background role and detracts from the overall mix. Everything else is balanced well.

On a separate note, where did you get the art?

Developer

The piano almost always plays some sort of lead and I used the higher velocities to build up intensity in some parts. Most people don't use those almost percussive sounds of high velocity piano but I quite liked it. Thanks for your feedback!

The art is all AI generated and I used https://playgroundai.com.

Ok let me list the things I jotted down while listening:

Sun of water - Very cool sparkling quality to it, very fitting of the water theme of the track. The climax is also very appealing, and has a great sense of wonder, well done!

Sun of stars - Nice textures, probably my favorite track because of this. Nothing feels overbearing and is just a nice listen, with a nice progression and flow.

Final battle - Very cool vibe to it. Also the bells, I have to know what they are called... I think I heard them in a Terraria mod i think?

Overall very cool, consistent set of tracks

Developer(+1)

The bells are from the touhou soundfont, and I'm pretty sure they use it in the Terraria Calamity mod OST as well. Thanks for your feedback!
