Runaway

How does it fit the theme?

Oh yeah, can see a little of the Nier inspiration, this was a really pretty track, it sounded so full and lush, I really enjoyed the mixing on the track, very beautiful song, great job!

thank you!!
love your submission!! ^^

Okay, sounds great, composition has some potential, nice texture. The mix, the panning is a good idea but maybe not for the whole song, having the piano staccato on the left the whole time its getting a bit tedious. NO BASS, just add some low frequency somewhere in the middle of the song and that would pull up some awesome dynamics and change the feeling a bit especially if you only have one track for the game. Chord progression, well done but try to open some of your chords instead of doing stacked triad chords,  open up a little bit like root note, fifth and third you'll see the song will have more space and magically sound a bit better. Good job !

Developer

thanks!! will note the advice!
and yeah the bass really got fucked
it DOES have bass, but my headphones are known for having little bass, so i decided to lower it on the final master in fear it would be extremely lowed, but i defo overdid it....

Wow, this is a really pretty track! I really enjoy the flute section, it makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a vast forested mountain range. Very well done!

Developer

thankies!! ^^

Beautiful theme music with that recurring piano note that pushed the track along. I'd be interested in how you might have gone building upon the 'runaway' theme in additional tracks because I feel like you would have really kicked goals.

thank you!! ^^

Loved the forest noises and wish I had thought of it too haha. The piano ostinato on the tonic note was a nice touch. This is a gorgeous forest piece!

Developer

thank u !! ^^

Oooh I can definitely see the nier vibe! That piano and the instrument starting at 2:00, what is it? That instrument in combination with the piano ostinato gave it a great atmosphere!

Developer

it's.... it's a violin.... with a second one a bit lower in volume and a cello giving a bit more bass

and thanks!!!

Quite peaceful, but yet a bit tense with the repetition going on, so it's also uneasy. Nice instrumentation and mix, I enjoyed the raspy flute.  I liked atmosphere here, I feel you got that down.  I would have liked a bit more variation, I can see what you were going for, focusing more on atmosphere and setting the tone, but it would have spiced it up a little, seeing as you had one track to work with. I liked that you switched it up with the violin, it just comes off a tad too strong.

Great job with this one, keep making awesome music!

Developer(+1)

oh yeah defo it needs more variation, it was originally supposed to end after the second part for the flute (when the backing violins, cellos and basses come in) but then i realized i wouldn't have time to make another track so i just decided to extend it with the violin. Maybe i could've added some orchestral drums at some point to add a bit more variety but i feared it would be really weird for them to just start at the violins part and then the track just end.

Also thanks for commenting about the mix! As a sound engineer student I appreciate the recognition for the extra 2~3 hours the mixing and (light) mastering took... <3

oh and yeah defo that violin needs a bit of a revision, the flute too. some flute notes just come outside of the beat in a very not cool way, and i didn't catch it when working on it... that flute vst sounds great but it's kinda random attack make it a bitch to work with, still can't ask for it to be perfect since it was free...

also one last thing, i had already listened to your submission and it's great i love it !

tysm and keep up with making banger music too ^^ !!

Interesting username, what did Alice do to do such Violence?

Jokes aside, I like the peacefulness from ur OST, it really compliments the picture theme. Great Job!

Developer

najdvbdfaovbadovadb the username is pretty much just a reference to Alice Glass' song "Love is Violence"

thanks!!
also had already listened to a few tracks from your OST and it's really cool ^^

Great use of that nature sound in the background. Really adds to the feel.

Developer

i know right???

I like it. I haven't played Nier, so I can't really comment on whether it would fit that, but the soundtrack you wrote invokes some sort of lost civilization feel. A world that is still, but bears an echo of what once was. There's this wistfulness to it. I really like the way the melodies, like the flute for instance, just seemingly float on top.

Thanks for making this great track!

Really cool atmosphere! The piano at the beginning  really got my attention and made me wonder what direction you were gonna take it. Great work!
