the game looks really beautiful! i would’ve loved a possibility to row backwards, in case i get stuck in a rock. also would be great to see further ahead so you can plan your moves in time to dodge the rocks, otherwise the controls are too slow to really react to obstacles.

also i agree with the other comments: multiplayer would be lots of fun!

I really like the concept, but I have problems with the execution.

The steering system is great, but you can't see forward very far, so it's random whether you'll hit something. That's my biggest issue.

The rhythm element could also be a bit better, maybe allow for some margin, and then have the biggest acceleration when you press at the right time, and a medium acceleration when you press it *almost* right.

Also, for some reason, the game gets choppy, not sure if that's just me?

Either way I think this has potential if the issues are addressed, and could be a very addictive game!

Thank you so much for the detailed review. I appreciate it!

The point about the vision was totally fair, I had a theory that I can resolve it with a red buoy, but it didn't work. So, I'll experiment with it to make a track more predictable. About the rhythm it very interesting idea, as I know in the real world on the boat can be a drummer to making a rhythm... Two items added to the backlog :D

Good luck :D

Developer(+1)

What did you mean under choppy? The desktop version of the web? :)

Submitted(+1)

Web version, it did stutter a bit, but if nobody else reports this it may just have been my computer doing something in the background!

Very enjoyable music that I felt fit the games aesthetics quite nicely. Loved the art style too.  Great looking game I enjoyed playing all the levels.  Now for a couple suggestions.

With how difficult it is to maneuver around obstacles, I'd suggest having a larger / taller screen resolution to give the player more vision ahead of them.  I also feel like there are some improvements that can be made to the controls.  The way I see it there are two options.

  1. Allow holding of a button to continue stroking.
  2. If you are looking for precise button presses and feel like holding down a button removes part of the challenge, I'd suggest adding a small input buffer to trigger a stroke. That way if you mistime your click/press you will still do the desired action at the earliest possible moment.
Developer

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed feedback and suggested improvements. Yep, the problem with maneuvering exists, I was thinking about zooming out when the player accelerating to balance risk and reward :) About holding I definitely would try it :)

Ur game is so cool, I'd like that. I'd appreciate it a lot if you could check out my submission too!

You've posted this exact comment on at least 3 other submissions. This isn't how feedback works.

Are you even human or a bot?

Your effort to have people rate your game is very dishonest.

I'm only writing this if I liked the game . I don't know how to beautifully point out the advantages of the game , I can just write that it's cool or I liked it. I don't write this under each one just so that people would appreciate my game , many have very few responses and I want to help somehow. Please don't think badly of me

I just have time to test the games on this jam, and I really don't know how to describe what I liked about the game, so I always write the same thing

Nice game good graphics and very relaxing music. I would add some sort of extra speed bonus for not just spamming space because thats what i ended up doing. I would also just increase the rowers speed just a bit but other wise Great Game.

Also would be great if people could check out my game as well(:

A pretty fun game, the rafting level was pretty confusing because I took my time tryin to figure out who I was playing with, but, a very fun game nonetheless, keep up the good work. ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you :) Yeah, some mess with boats on the rafting level. Honestly, I wanted to add one color schema for AI for these boats but ran out of time)

Submitted(+1)

Amazing style.

I think it would be better if the boat was lower on the screen, so we could see more of what is coming and have more time to react.

This would probably be fun with multiplayer. It is a game worth continuing development!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Good idea with boat positions, I thought about zoom out, when you are speeding. Lower positions for boats has been released in the last patch :) Two more comments about multiplayer and I could start to develop it :D

Oh, this is great! I love it!

I'd like to have online mode to play with friends.

So cool art and gameplay, thx for this UX.

I hope my feedback was useful! I'd appreciate it a lot if you could check out my submission too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your time and feedback :) The idea about the online mode is cool, I'll think about it!

The most polished game in the jam I played so far. Feels like someone has been developing it for weeks.  And it could easily be developed into a fun multiplayer game. I also in love with the art style.

A superb jam game.

Developer

I wish I could start to develop it a week ago but started on Saturday evening. And now I'm super sleepy :D

So, I really like you enjoy the game. I'm thinking about a multiplayer mode... sounds good)

Nice game! Controls were a little hard to get used to, and the boats didn't feel very responsive (like I couldn't really make them go where I wanted). Kind of wish you could see further too.

Very aesthetically pleasing, and a cool game idea.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your time and feedback! Controls are the main priority task for improving the player experience. I have never ever participate in rowing, but I guess the boats are not too responsive, especially at high speed, I'm looking for a way to make this aspect more fun :)

On real paddle boats, faster turning is sometimes done by dragging an oar on the opposite side. Maybe something like that would be possible in your game?

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you for the inside! :) About dragging oars to the opposite side sound very interesting, I'll think about how I can fit in the current controls system.

Submitted(+1)

awesome!

Developer

Thank you) I'm glad you enjoy it! :)

awesome!

the game is good, i liked the concept, i liked the controller of the game, i liked the art, awesome Game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your kind words :)

The game sounds and looks really good, but i don't quite  get the hang of the controls. Also, the game doesn't really fit the limitation. I would like to play the game a bit more but the controls are just too frustrating. Maybe make it so that the left mouse button controls the left side and the right mouse button the right side.

I hope the feedback helped you a bit, it would be really nice if you could check out my submission too. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the wide feedback :)

Yep, controls could confuse. It works when a boat moving from bottom to top, but when you start rotating there is a weak point of this type of controls. The idea with the left and right buttons sounds good, I definitely will check it :)

Submitted(+1)

Very relaxing and chill game. I like the mechanics a lot, the way that it starts out frustrating as hell but becomes very satisfying once you learn is actually very similar to kayaking/rowing. Great game, lots of potential here

Submitted(+1)

Fun game. The visuals and the music are very soothing. The controls are a bit difficult to master but I feel it's headed in the right direction. A few changes can greatly improve the gameplay experience.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your time and feedback. Yep, the controls are painful, on the paper it was great :DI have some ideas to improve it :)

Submitted(+1)

Fun game with great visual but the control are a bit weird ( it would be much simple if each side was control by the same side of the mouse)

Developer

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you like the visual part. About controls... yep, this a problem, imagine, in the first version you had to click on each rower to make them pull oars :)

Submitted(+2)

i'm really glad that wasn't the final decision. that sounds extra painful

Submitted(+1)

It would be near impossible :O
