Jumping is weird here. Nice idea tho

Hilarious game, it was so funny carrying the cats around as a grandma. Graphics are good too.
As a suggestion, when you complete a level you should load the next one automatically instead of bringing me back to the menu. Also, the tutorial wasn't working for me.
Good job, keep it up!
Thank you!
great suggestion
and the tutorial level was working it featured cool animations and a dialog system but unfortunatly when building it in unity we forgot to add that scene dumb mistake and we found out after submission time so we couldnt change it if you want i can send you the game with the tutorial level
but yeah a big mistake because most of the time went in to the tutorial level dumb mistake bc we're still noobs.
hey, fixed some of the thing you said can you try it again
Sure!
xD This is the strongest granny in the world :) Very cool game
thanks!
Super cute game! The cats seem to be enormous compared to tha granny but that just makes the game look even cuter!
Two things that seem a bit weird, why can this old lady hold onto the edge of a platform XD The other thing is that the game would be even more challenging if you could only pick up one cat at a time
Funny concept xD I really liked the art and the game was fun too -great job! :D
Hey !!! great game. I don't know if this only my problem but your tutorial is not working on my pc.
Hey !!! great game. I don't know if this only my problem but your tutorial is not working on my pc.
yeah when we we're compiling it we forgot to add the tutorial scene :( it featured some animatons for keybinds so you could know what buttons to press and a dialog system for a cat so he could explain how to catch him and how to do wall jump so its very sad
Thanks for the feedback btw!
hey!!! I would really appreciate it if you could check out my game Rate MEOW by Games made by a 15 Year old for Mini Jam 80: Cats - itch.io
Seriously cute great art!
This grandmother's cane seems to be just a fashion statement. Because she can jump higher than her height and kick the wall to advance!
Tysm! Your game is awesome too!
Any granny who uses here cane-slinging ledge-climbing skills to save cats is a hero in my book.
That said, the ledge-climbing does stick a little. You may consider temporarily changing the collider's material friction property to zero while the spacebar is held down (if kinematic), or while granny's y velocity > 0 (if rigidbody).
Had good fun nevertheless. Good work, and good luck! :D
thanks! And a great tip.
Granny's Addiction has captured a concept that I feel really is underused these days. Something that I feel the Developers failed to build upon was that enjoyable experience that this game had the potential for. The concept here is that you play the level, you collect the cat near the end of a level using "E" and then you bring it back to the start, "Granny's House". Like I said, this is why it has true potential to be something amazing! But it fails due to the level design and collision issues. It's also missing a level completion record that I feel really should be included in this game to make it stand out more. It just doesn't feel rewarding to complete a level.
I really admire what Blookane and EdenSpijker have created here. I just wish they had developed it a little further in the right direction. It seems to me that there was too much focus on presentation and not enough focus on gameplay. Overall, a semi-great experience that could've definitely benefited from what I have mentioned above ^^
Great work! :D
Thanks for the feedback! I really agree on all your points, we were really scared the presentation wouldn't be good, but we focused a bit to much on that and not into gameplay. But we are definetely thinking about updating the game and expanding it. But overal i think it was a great learning experience for our first jam.
I had no idea this was your first jam. In that case, I do feel slightly bad for the scores I had given you and your friend. However, please don't take it too seriously. As I was only voting what I felt was a fair rating for what I experienced. I'm sure many will enjoy your future builds. I wish you the best of luck with your and your friend's future on the GameJam journey! In all honesty, I really thought that it was still a great experience. At least I got to see Granny holding a cat and falling off a cliff. Thank you for this laugh :D
Thanks! It doesn't matter that you rated us "bad" it was just a fun experience and we don't really care about winning. Our goal for this game jam was to make a full game (which we have never done before) and learn alot. Thanks for the feedback tho, we are definetely gonna work on the game after the voting is over!
Great feedback! i completely agree with you just like blookane already said .
Im definitly lookin forward to further develop this game.
Good game story! Great textures! Good sound. Unlike the previous comment, I didn't like the wall jumping mechanic. There is a feeling that this is not a mechanic, but a bug turned into a mechanic. It is inconvenient to jump from the wall. Overall, the project is good!
Thank you! Great feedback the wall jump mechanic did'nt turn out the way we wanted it to be but we couldn't get it much better because we're still noobs.
A fun platformer that is more complex than it initially appears, the wall jumping mechanic is nice and fairly well implemented but should probably have been documented somewhere as it is necessary to complete most of the levels. It would also be nice to know how many cats each level features in advance and for the game to track completion of levels.
Thanks!
We wanted to implement a cat counter but we could'nt finish it in time and we wanted to add level completion/unlock feature but we did'nt have time for that too and we first had a tutorial level that explained how to play the game (including wall jumps) with nice animations but while compiling we forgot to add that scene so thats why the tutorial level does'nt work
I would have never thought that some day I would play as an old lady in a platformer. Nice game!
Thanks! lmao
i like the Game! The textures are great with such a limitation good job!
