Great game, good story. It was fun to play!

Submitted(+1)

it was a good idea, although there are some underlying issues i am sure you saw that need to be fixed. but be proud of yourself that you were able to complete and submit something.

Developer

Thank you! I hope you enjoyed playing it.

Enjoyment: Ight str8 from the get go, this game was a banger as soon as u saw those little frogs pumping that vocal iron to an 11 my dude.  Seriously it was charming and I was ready for more of that shit.  What came was cool, a little story & interesting cinematic sequence, followed by a sort of boss rush that had you trying NOT to fight with your little brother.  As someone who has grown up with a little brother & had a really rocky life, this felt pretty emotional to me, and that gave it points for sure.  I think in terms of the gameplay enjoyment, I actually did like the gameplay, but there was a lot to be desired in both the bullethell-like pattern complexities, and as many people said, the tight hitboxes that can help make ur moves more confident.  I feel like my gripes come down to just spending more time on that, but I couldn't beat it to give you my impression of whatever came after.

Concept: Cool concept, I liked the story, the idea of tying it to the story as to why you're not fighting back was great.  It was a little confusing on why turning them into frogs made the little brother vicious but w.e lmao, maybe i just missed the reasoning.

Presentation: Game looks passable as a whole, but definitely low budget, there's a charm to that though, feels like someone having kitbashed a comic out of magazine clippings, kinda childish, which suits the theme.  It definitely needs more work in the art department.  Music was fantastic though, great choices, even the menu theme.

Use of Limitation: Nothing innovative, but was technically played in one arena.

Very nice! Really really loved the main menu and how the frogs appear in pace with the song, that really did put a smile on my face <3

I also liked the story and the fighting-without-fighting part. although hitboxes could be a bit smaller for both bullets and player, they're conveyed pretty well for both of them.

The volume slider is really appreciated, too.

(Noticed some filtering issues with your sprites; this is very common with unity and pixel art. You have to select your sprite asset and change "Filter Mode" from "Bilinear" to "Point (no filter)" to get that crispy pixelart look c:)

Developer

Thank you! The frogs appearing was a random last day thought to make it more interesting.  I loved looking at the frogs appear and sing along too lol That is one of my favorite parts of the game.

Yeah hitboxes were very off and for being a bullet hell its a super bad thing. It was not an issue until I made the multi shoot and then I discovered all kinds of hitbox and health problems. That might have been the answer is make different size hitboxes or something along that.

I'm glad you liked the story! I was really trying hard to make a story tied to gameplay like Undertale but a super budget version.

I appreciate you telling me how to fix the filtering issue. It is going in the sticky notes until I remember set it.

Nice game, sweet story. Really enjoyed how music made it less fight an more fairy tale.

If you going to continue developing it after the jam, it might be a good idea to add some random or ahead of player fireballs, cuz now you can just make circles and be pretty safe. Oh, and delete those "button" captions))

Developer

Thank you! I Hope you enjoyed playing it. I personally don't like reading in games so I was wanting to capture the audience who does and cares for a story. I wanted the story to then make since for the game and restrict the player so even if you skip the story you might go back and read why you can't attack back. I wish I would have fleshed the story out more but I was getting super burned out and frustrated with the games hit box. Next time I'll dedicate a certain minimum time towards developing and ironing out a story. I'm so glad you got that fairy tale ish vibe.

I was definitely looking into diffrent attacks and attack patterns for future development. I had a blast making it.

Hey, good stuff! Banger track too, did you make it?

The hitboxes on the projectiles are a little wild, you might want to tone them down (or the player's hurtbox)

Developer(+1)

All 3 tracks I did not make or design, the art as well was not mine. I will have a link to their work in my description later today. I was disappointed with my project so I rushed the publishing process and closed everything while waiting for feedback.

All assets came from https://opengameart.org/ you could match all my in game stuff by searching "Frog" and find almost everything.

When I realized the hit box bug it was a nightmare. A bullet hell game with a buggy hit box. I tried to make Invisibility Frames but there is a nasty hitbox problem somewhere. It's a problem in my coding and I'm not experienced enough to instantly  know where or how to look for it. Would probably take rewriting key code. Iv tried messing with the projectile itself, the Main Char itself, just about everything.

Thank you for playing and I hope you enjoyed it :)

Cool game! can tell a lot of effort went into this.  with some moving sprites it would feel more alive.

Great job! also I like that you included a volume slider on the title, was meaning to do that for my game

Developer

Thank you! For the moving slider. I have tried for hours on hours to make it work with my other projects, I just randomly tried on this game and I was able to get it no guides within 4 minutes. It's very interesting the more you work on game dev the easier hard things that you never knew was a thing becomes. Animation is something I did 0 of in any of my slap to gather games so I still have to learn it. I was worried about Potetional overscope and wanted to just design my ideas for the game before looking at things I have to learn to do. Your game is insane on the level that my games lacks with the graphics and art.

Had fun playing this -great work! :D

Thank you! I love hearing people enjoyed the game. It's such a mood booster!

I like the fact that it had a story to go with the game, and that it also had combat without having to fight back. Add some more reactions between the frogs during combat, polish the visuals a bit more, and you’ve got a great game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! I was trying to make a fully fleshed out game so a story was necessary. I was going for an undertale ish battle where where its story fight story with fighting tied into fight. Hope you enjoyed playing it :)
