The game world felt lush and alive. The forest background, the swaying grass, the woodpeckers, the birdsong, the running brooks... I really appreciate the attention to detail. Similarly, it was great how there was a full front end, including credits and tutorial.
Unfortunately, the win and lose conditions are not explained. I couldn't figure out how to tell the good mushrooms from the bad. As thoorin notes below, this should have been covered in the tutorial. Alternatively, it should have been clear from the head up display. As it is, the only feedback I got was when the game was over, but I didn't know which mushrooms were which. Plus, how many good mushrooms do I need to win?
Also, I was having difficulty jumping up ledges. Even though I know the character can jump high enough, he kept getting stuck on the sides. You might want to try a frictionless material on the player.
This game has really nice and relaxing feel. Probably the best part about the game was the sound, it really made the forrest feel real. I liked also the graphic design, it was very nice.
When it comes game play, I wish you would explain the goal of the game in tutorial (tutorial only taught me how to control the game, not what is the goal). At first play I did not know what is the point of the game, I was just running around collecting shrooms, and then was told I am dead. After seeing the stats of how many good and bad mushrooms I collected, I realized that I probably need to collect more good mushrooms than the bad ones. On second play I had 0 poisonous mushrooms and won. Gameplay worked, however it was not enjoyable, at least for me.
But of course that is understandable, considering the limited amount of time for development you created nice little project and you managed to create amazing moodwork of the game, so great job!
I ingested a lot of poisonous mushrooms!
very cool use of the limitation / theme. Nice peaceful game, I really enjoyed it. Those colliders need a bit of polish , but you can only do so much in such a short timeframe! Great job.
Nice mechanics, interesting use of the limitation, good art , nice music, very good!
Uh ok lol! I love mushroom games! that is all!
This game sure set the mood of it with the nature music and collecting mushrooms. It was quite enjoyable collecting the mushrooms. I then realized after the game ended that I collected quite alot of poison mushrooms XD
A great chill game. Perfect way to unwind after sprinting through the weekend participating in the jam lol. I like that the music is simple relaxing nature sounds, and that the plants all dance around.
It has really nice climat.
