Great artwork and effects, nice sound design and movement/gun feedback. Very solid work overall.
that was awesome! so much fun, and such creative use of the limitation by giving them different guns, i found a glitch btw if you switch right as you're about to hit the barrier that squid goes straight through. Great game!
glitch or unintended feature hmmmm? ... nah definitely a glitch
Visual, movements and sound effects are awesome ! It feel good to play this game ! The theme is well respected, but the usage of the limitation could have been better I think, because if the player want, he doesn't need to switch. Anyway, really great game ! PS : the collisions with the border have bug
thanks for playing; for the limitation I wanted the team of 2 squids to be pretty realistic, so most of the time only 1 guy just does all the work while the other slacks of... glad it turned out as it is, very relatable :P
what bug are you referring to? also there's no collisions for the border since its not a wall, its just a line on the sand similar to a sumo arena.
I don't know, my squid can't go through it
well, your not really supposed to even leave the circle... there are sea bears out there
Impressive visuals and good use of differing mechanics. I enjoyed the hunt more so than others. One thing I think might be a good change is to have the squids move together Or having one follow the other. Felt like Id be able to utilize the two better if they were around each other instead of being left behind. Overall great job though. B)
thanks for playing, yeh i actually was supposed to make the other squid just follow around... but opted not too, being able to split up and cover more ground just felt super nice, also with the current controls u can just tap the swap button and have the squids move in tandem if ud like... basically i like giving players the option to play as they please.
What an achievement! Really great work! Solid art direction and great concept!
The only thing I would change is adding a small indicator of where is the nearest fish, that would increase the flow of the game! Still, major submission here!
First of all, I absolutely love the art style, and the sfx are really nicely done too! I would only say that the game feels quite slow paced, and thats not necessarily a bad thing, its just that it lacks a proper incentive bar the requirement for completing each level. Maybe a timer to see how fast you can complete the levels? Its an awesome concept that needs fleshing out more, though I will say the quality is stellar
I wanted to complete it, but I couldnt bear how slow it is to look for the small fish, killing sharks was way more fun than looking for that 1 tiny fish that is somewhere around here, also why no music?
yeh that last fish knew where to hide once all his fishy friends were inked... why no music u ask? I place all the blame on @The.Json, he knows wut he did -_-
I forgor how to make good music for a second and hard focused sound effects, my brain decided to rot a little and we mutually decided this game was better off without music for the time, maybe later :)
Great game! but I didn't really find a reason to switch between the 2 squids.
maybe the real 'reason' are the friends we make along the way :3
I love your answer!
The sniper one just sounds better and the pistol one is for when you, sadly, almost run out of ink from using the sniper guy a little too often. Although my dev would tell you otherwise for 'gameplay' reasons.
I really liked the visual part of the game. The controls are quite simple and intuitive. And the gameplay is interesting. I really liked it
Very relaxing game. I like it it much.
In Level 5 or 6 where you have to kill 3 sharks the light started to get much darker . After cleaning the level it still was dark. Is this intended?
ty for trying out our game.
I'm sorry what do you mean by 'the light started to get much darker'? u mean the 'fade to black' transition after clearing the level?
'After cleaning the level it still was dark.' sorry i don't understand... do you have any screenshots?
I mean the whole light level of the game got dark. It's like you put a dark texturerect with some transparency on top of the game. I don't made any screenshot because I was not sure if this is intended.
ah i think i know what happened, no thats not part of the game... i think u just highlighted the game by accident using ur mouse... the same result could be replicated by pressing the game page and pressing ctrl+A.
LOOOOOL
And I first thought it is a feature. Well seen 💪
I think we both started with the same basic gameplay mechanic and went in completely opposite directions haha. The squid movement looks great and everything feels polished, love the ink splat shadow effect especially :)
lul, yeh i can definitely see that... the original controls and gameplay of my game would actually be pretty close to what ur game is right now... but somewhere along the way, I decided to add guns :P
Great game. The artistic direction is phenomenal on this. I enjoyed the gradual challenge, and the gunplay felt really good. I initially wondered why you would ever use the rifle squid over the revolver one, but when I started to use both in tandem it felt really good! I appreciated their strengths balancing each other's weaknesses (range vs limited ammo). Wish there was a timer and radar for finding fish because it definitely does take a while to find that last fish on the levels.
thank you for the kind words, the artistic direction was actually driven by my lack of artistic skills :P ... every artist I knew was busy to join this jam with me.
was originally planning on adding some sort of timer and radar; since I also find myself looking for the last fish, but I actually quite liked the slow cozy pacing... very reminiscent of playing an old Y8 stickman sniper game, also finding the last fish actually felt pretty fun after a while, kinda like hide-and-go-seek... also plays well with the whole 'hitman squid' concept of hunting down ur targets
Good control, good graphic.
Hi Matt!
This game is really smooth and the soudn effects and movement feels very satisfying. The little squeal of the fish made me lol the first time too haha. Very ncie game!!
thanks for playing, sounds are all thanks to The.Json squeezing a wet towel.
Squeezed a soaking wet paper towel in front of a dynamic mic and layered it with a white noise hit. Very cool, the squeal was on pure accident, but I heard it in game for the first time and loved it 100%.
