Cute!
I had almost no idea what was happening in that opening cutscene. Also, I can't read the map to save my life. :(
Loved your little ancient depths demon thing.
Nice game! I like the simplicity and intuitive mechanics combined with fast pacing.
This is a nitpick but I do feel the lack of player's sound and visual effects for jumping, walking, diving and so on. But this is rather a polish point, not crucial for the overall game feel. Good job!
Great game! This is simple & chill game is well designed. This game is compact & the levels are fun. I really liked how you get to the final stretch area. There are some sprite readability issues with the character and certain elements (Wind tunnels, Falling floors). The controls can feel too floaty at times. This can cause cheap deaths when you enter new areas and immediately fall onto spikes. Other than these minor issues you made a great game. Good job!
I won! This was fun and well executed. I didn't realize they were statues at first and I thought I just killed this cute looking slime guy just for standing there haha. I thought the level design was great: especially how you have to go waaaay down for the first part and waaaay up for the 2nd part. Great job!
fun game :)
Nice to see a fellow 1-bit low-res entry. :)
The game mostly plays well, except that the ability to break certain blocks with pressing down does not seem to work reliably and it would be nice to have some "you are here" indicator on the map (my solution for a 1-bit low-res game was to make the current location blink in inverted pixels).
Other than that, this is a good metroidvania game, well done! :)
Here's my playthrough and feedback!
This game is charming in theory, but I found it quite gruelingly difficult, for various reasons.
The player movement is very hectic and feels extremely out of control. The jump is always the same height instead of cutting out when z is released, and the player just moves too fast for how small screens are, especially since there's no acceleration/deceleration. Less instant screen transitions would also help in not dying as often.
Checkpoints are placed far too infrequently, heck, I'd just save on every room like celeste at this point. The hitboxes of spikes could also be a lot more generous.
Enough about that, the art is super simplistic but it works, the music is good on its own, though it did get to my nerves hearing the same tune over and over again due to repeated dying.
It's a good game in theory, just far too finicky and difficult for me.
Good job!
I really had fun storming the dungeon! Really fun throwback
