Pretty cool overall. Very quick, responsive controls. I appreciate how minimal the sounds and graphics are—you can do a lot with very little. This game reminds me of old Commodore games. Sometimes the text goes by too fast to read it all. Nice touch with the many various items that give you different abilities. Good job!

nice game, i love the simplicity of this game.

I love this minimalistic look. The sound of the footsteps is wonderful.

I was expecting something scary from the dark atmosphere of the game and got scared on the boss :D

Cool concept! Completes in two minutes

Neat game! I like the variety of different power-ups and locations. The area with the piles of dead creatures was quite memorable. I also like how the level design directs the player, particularly after getting the glide ability.

The furthest I got was obtaining the dash ability I assumed it would be used to bypass the "<" blocks but it didn't seem to do anything. Then I accidentally dashed into the fire and died... Let me know if I'm missing something. I'd like to try again and reach the end.

That leads into my main complaint though: The lack of checkpoints. Having to restart the whole game when dying is very discouraging. A map would be nice too, but that's not such a big deal since I learnt the layout of the world well enough without one.

Love the old school look and sound, though I had to give up after getting the anti-cold jacket, when some fire insta-killed me and there are no saves/checkpoints

Nice retro aesthetic and gameplay, the map is fun to explore but dying is pretty easy, maybe having some invincibility or checkpoints would help with that.... can the third boss instakill you or is it just me?

I also Iike how the sprite changes with upgrades( does that mean the player starts naked though?)

Also don't know if dashing diagonally up is intended or not.

Developer

The third boss instakill prob is him spawning multiple projectiles at once, i tried stopping that but seems i failed

Iframes should of been the obvious choice

Yes they start naked technically breaking the rules to the jam  also the og idea was calling it "dress up with the devil",

because  something else  saved you and is asking to kill the bosses so he can ascend or something like that

Diagonal dash is intended

apparently i accidentally forgot to change the win text

Edit: screenshot is misleading, i meant i forgot to change the text that said "you died"

Oh, now that makes sense, thanks for telling.

Fun game ! Didn’t get to the end, I believe I missed the dash ability somewhere, maybe a map would have been helpful. Also sometimes you glitch the screen change triggers and you can’t see what you’re doing. In the end I think I fell out of the map above where you get the coat. Other than the few bugs and the fact that there’s no music, I think this is a solid entry, the level design is great. GG !

Developer

yeah, i have been working to fix the trigger errors, most of them are caused by rope sheneningmas,

and the reason i didn't include a map is because i didn't know how to lol
