Comments on the jam
Wanted to make a metroidvania and to start a bigger project, found a one month-long metroidvania-themed jam. Perfect.

This is game is one of the best, I really enjoy this game, is very concise and to the point.

You start the game, fail and try again, very fast paced.

Great work! Unbelivable that this was made by one man during one month only. I gave you my best rating.

Really cool, I liked how open it felt. I died to the boss and I like how you had a short cut to get back to it with the power up that was next to it. The points system to upgrade yourself was nice too definitely feels like something that could be a bit longer given more work with bosses/goals in all sorts of directions. I feel like if the game was made any bigger some more campfires or something to use for warp points/checkpoints might be needed to not discourage the player.

Developer

I tried to keep the game short enough to be able to polish it, in terms of level design too. It also allowed to have a single checkpoint, but yeah I agree that if the game was longer I would need to have more of them (takes some effort to implement though :p )

Cute little game! The only technical issue I've encountered was that sometimes after a fall the character would not face the direction he is walking in. Other than that, the item pickups aren't really indicative of what you're getting out of them; I picked up yellow crystals and only realized I had bombs after a respawn. But overall, a fun little adventure!

Developer

Yeah I’ve seen that bug, but since it’s not too inconvenient I’ve been too lazy to fix it ^^ I’ve had that feedback about the item pickups from semeone else too, it’s not something I had thought of. I’ll keep it in mind for future projects ! ;)

Oh yes! Pure metroidvania style. I love the bow, and how easy it is to aim. If you try mine, I have to improve weapon select and aim. And I think now I did it too complicated with my 2 hand system. :) Good job!

Developer

Thanks ! The bow is definitely not as good when using keyboard controls though, which is an issue. I think we should keep things simple in a game jam ;)
