I loved the mech model, it looked heavy and strong and something that I enjoyed piloting. That said, it felt weak when actually shooting as the visuals gave me an idea of how it would move and shoot and the reality felt a bit plain. The gameplay loop was solid and even if the enemies were giant carrots, they managed to give me a sense of danger when sprinting towards me. Great work with this one!

Puh, were to start? I Survived your Buggy Game lets say it this way :p
The movement and jumping feels really solid and cool, makes alot of fun going around.
The Sounds and Music are well fitted to that Game and gives good Vibes to the Game itself.
The Carrots look cool and the Mech is really noice. Buildings look a little bit from another world with those Carrots and Mech.
And then there is your Buggy Game:
- I cannot restart or make a new game after beeing defeated or winning, theres only a Black Screen and i have to fully restart the game.
- The Aiming feels really off, even with the Zoom
- The Bullets seems to fly far enough but dont hit the Enemy.
- Enemies attack from below the Houses even you dont see them, theres no Escape....
- Buildings seems not to have proper Colliders
Those are also Game Breaking Bugs which makes it a bit frustrating
Anyway you did a good Job and made a solid MechGame!
Well i wanted to try it but the windows version immediately crashes when i launch it :/
Not sure what happened there, i noticed this is a Godot game, so maybe it’s due to the version you used, if its 4.something maybe that’s not stable yet ? I’m still using 3.5 so i don’t know if version 4’s stable yet ^^’
Can’t give it a proper rating sadly since i can’t run it, but from the screens it looks nice, the mech design in particular, i like the actual transparent cockpit windows :)
the volume on the sfx was a bit too loud, compared to the music, and whenever I fired a bullet, or picked up a battery, the game lagged to all heck
it was really fun, but polishing some of the major bugs and audio volume would really help
Thanks for playing :) Yeah, the pause menu has settings for sfx, music, brightness, and contrast, but I won't have everything hooked up until after the contest. As for the lag, I'll see about adding a downloadable option (I won't change anything for now, just add another playable option). It worked really smoothly inside of Godot, but the HTML version didn't translate well.
to make this game work on my browser (i use chrome) i had to turn on hardware acceleration. hope this helps anyone with a "lag" issue! very smooth controls!
I like the idea behind this, graphics and animations are good but I did struggle to actually play it though. I didn't think it was going to load up at first and it continued to struggle while playing. I really like the music as well :)
I played it on Chrome which seemed to have a few problems with it sadly, it seems like a few functions seem to cause a ton of lag the first time they're done, like collecting the battery and shooting - but after that they seemed to work flawlessly after that, I've saw the comment about the meshes not transferring over which is honestly a huge shame because I legit love the art in this and... I've only just realised typing it out now that the mech looks like a rabbit with the enemies being carrots ties them together in a cute way haha. (if that was intentional that is!)
Thanks for trying my game, Konverex :) Yes, this has been quite frustrating, but I'm glad it got smoother as you played. Thank you very much for your compliments regarding the art. One of my friends was teasing me about the big feet and grenade launchers that looked like bunny ears. We laughed about it for a while, and she said "Wouldn't it be crazy if the kaiju were giant vegetables?". Sounded like a great idea :'D
Since you like the art, I'd like your opinion: Would you prefer to see human drivers or Sonic the Hedgehog-type characters as the villagers and pilots? The Jack Rabbit—the current mech—will have a female pilot named Slim, and I have some other characters in development including a burly pilot with a bear-themed mech.
Glad to hear you think so. My art always ends up looking cute and stylized, so this is probably the best direction. Thinking of a post-apocalyptic world where animals have evolved and taken our place, struggling to survive and protect their civilization from horrific science experiments left behind by humans—such as the kaiju carrots.
I just played the game, and I must say, the idea is cool! The graphics are good. However, I did encounter a few issues while playing. In Chrome, the game didn't seem to move properly, and in Firefox works but with many buffering problems. Additionally, I noticed that the carrots weren't always visible, only the legs and hands were visible sometimes.
But despite these issue, I think that with some polishing and bug fixes, this game has the potential to be a great one! Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Misterm. as you mentioned, there are some meshes that didn't transfer properly between Godot4 and Itch.io, also the shadows disappeared. I'll see what I can do to fix this in future versions. The lag seemed to drastically reduce after I played the game a coupe of times, but there are probably many things I can do to improve the efficiency and reduce bloat.
Thank you for the review and the advice, I really appreciate it!
