Nice polished work. Great art, good choice of music, fun story! Without any actual combat, the gameplay came down to, "How long can you stay on beat?". I consider myself a decent rhythm game player, and I found myself losing the beat pretty often. Not sure if something was out of sync between the metronome and the music or if the timing is too unforgiving or if I'm just bad, but the game could use some more feedback, both with audio cues and info on whether I'm hitting the beat late or early. I hope to see the concept expanded!

Oh hey; I think I remember a similar concept when I saw someone reviewing about Crypt of the NecroDancer. Neat.

I personally don't know if I'm just really bad at this or if the game is just unforgiving but.... I unfortunately can't really play this game (^_^;

I know a thing or two about music, I'm no stranger to rhythm games, and I even know a little about the challenges with making a good rhythm game (such as screen refresh rates, audio sync challenges, etc.). I must applaud your bold decision to make a rhythm game in the vein of Crypt of the Necrodancer! The art is cute and lively, the music is fun and fitting, and the core mechanic is pretty unique.

I do have some problems with the design, though. The metronome you have going in the top-left is just a bit out of sync with the music, so I found myself focusing exclusively on that part of the screen instead of rocking out to the fun jams and enjoying the art. I also am not a fan of the isometric design since the game is based on 4-directional movement. Another thing I would want to see improved is the layout: rather than moving just a little with each correct movement, move a whole square. It would make progress feel less plodding. I quit after 2 levels because I just wasn't enjoying it enough.

To summarize: I enjoyed the innovative ideas and the visual/audio design, but it needs some refining.

Ah damn, I really want to try this but I can't get it to work on Opera. I'm stuck at the 'Press Any Key To Start' screen; even in fullscreen it's not registering any input on mouse, keyboard or controller.

Could you put up a windows download, maybe?

EDIT: Damn, just tried on Firefox and it's not working there either; same issue

First off, the game looks amazing! I love the character designs, and the art is polished and well done throughout! The songs are all great picks, and work well.

I like rhythm games in theory, but I'm not terribly good at them. I did manage to make it through the full game though! My experience ranged from moments of really feeling in the grove, to frustrating strings of missed beats. All and all, the gameplay felt solid, but maybe a little more leeway or visual cue to help less rhythm skilled players like me. (I did get A ranks on several levels though, so I guess I wasn't that bad!)

One issue I ran into was a weird bug that almost stopped me from playing at all... I had the problem with no music when the level loaded up. I heard refreshing might help, so I did... and then not only was the music missing, but the character was invisible on the map! New games, continue, same result. All key presses generated "ok"s in this silent, invisible mode. This happened in Chrome and Firefox. The Ctrl + F5 suggestion didn't work on Firefox, but seemed to work on Chrome. At least, I finally got it to run correctly there.. I didn't push any further to see if it would glitch from further refreshing.

Anyhow, odd bug aside, really great entry!

There's a high level of polish here- the game looks really good, with a nice title screen, release quality UI, and even a super fancy itch.io page.

The design of the main character reminds me of PowerPuff Girls.

I did run into the bug where the music didn't work, but the second time I played the game it seemed to go fine.

I didn't get very far unfortunately. I'm terrible at rhythm games in general, and I found the first level really difficult. Every time I think I've got it the beat changes, and while that's probably a fun challenge for people who are actually good at rhythm games as someone who sucks at them I wish at least the first level didn't do that.

I wish there was more I could say about it. There's clearly a good game here, and it looks to be very complete and polished as well.

I didn't think it was so cool at first, but now, at release, I think it's really nice. The controls feel very responsive. The graphics look mega sweet and remind me of Mario Galaxy. I also like the music and the beat is clearly recognizable.

Wow, these designs are spectacularly cute! Story makes sense in that extremely cartoony way. 

Rhythm games are a ton of fun for me, though in this case my wrist started hurting after a while, haha! I'm sure if given the time it could have controller support and use the 4-button layout. I could totally see this expanded with several more types of rhythm games to break up the levels.

Soundtrack is all bangers!
