Did you work in a team?
Just me. This is the second jam I've ever seriously done, and I had a lot of fun! I was surprised by how flexible 64x64 turned out to be.

Was the resolution a challenge?
It was a challenge, but was less restrictive than I had imagined! The biggest hurdle has been trying to translate StarCraft's complex art style into such low res without losing the spirit of it completely.

What did you learn?
I was curious how things would be different at such low res, and I learned a lot. You can still do a lot of motion and depict a lot of detail even with so few pixels. I had never done much isometric pixel art, so that was challenging. I also had never really done my own pathfinding, and this gave me a chance to dip my toe in the water, which was nice.

Just played a little with it. I'm really impressed !

Ok it's not finished, but it's completely normal with the time limit. Also you're doing it if your own game engine (well, SDL :p) so it's way harder ! Congratulations ! I would love to see the full demake someday.

Oh man I love Brood War! This is super cool to see. What was the other art you did that couldn't be seen in game? Also the fog of war working so well is very impressive.

Thanks! There’s a YouTube video on the game’s page (complete with a bad kazoo cover) that shows the unused animations at the end—extra animations for the units and buildings, like working and being killed. I got sidetracked doing art one day and spent too much time on things that didn’t get to be used haha

The art is very readable for the resolution. I'd love to see what this feels like with some fleshed out gameplay behind it. Good job at downscaling all of this stuff and it still looking distinctly StarCraft.

I am trying to play the game, but the SCV is glued to my mouse cursor, I can select other units but clicking on the commands in the sidebar doesn't do anything, is that expected?

I forget that the jam entry pages don’t include the actual description of the game! Yes, the SCV just follows your mouse around and you can’t actually issue commands to selected units. I didn’t get to a properly playable map. :)
