Did you work in a team?
Nope, just me.
Was the resolution a challenge?
I kept it very simple, so I managed not to overwhelm myself trying to get pixel graphics to look just right. Lighting and particle effects do the heavy lifting. The hardest part was squeezing text/buttons/HUD into 64x64 pixels.
What did you learn?
My first two games used pre-made assets (shoutout to Kenney), so I challenged myself to create ALL the assets for this game. Despite its simplicity, I'm very happy with how the pixel art turned out, especially the normal maps for lighting effects. I composed the music with onlinesequencer.net, and made the sound effects in LMMS using various synthesizer plugins. I'm looking forward to making more games with original art and music.

Love the graphics! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
This game has amazing vibrant visuals given the small resolution. On top of that the arcade-style gameplay works extremely well. I especially enjoyed the way the hook and firing are interlinked through the overheating mechanic, and it creates a great contrast between which tool to use. I see a lot of potential in this shared energy pool, as you could add a third mechanic in later waves, such as a missile that causes significantly more overheating. As it stands, this is easily one of the best games that I've seen so far.
PS: I'd be grateful if you could play and rate my game in return:

Challenge the God of Gravity in this Rhythm-Based Platformer!
Thank you! I totally agree about having a third mechanic. I experimented with having a shield that used more energy, but it felt a little redundant with the lasers. I should have kept it and had it unlock after a certain number of waves or amount of gold collected. It would be useful because the game gets really hard after a few waves :-P
This is the best all-around submission I’ve played so far. Simple concept with great execution - precise movement, catchy music, crisp SFX, and solid graphics.
Minor feedback would be to include a Wave Timer bar on the side of the window to give to a better sense of progression.
Thank you! Good point about the wave timer, wish I had thought of that.
Great entry! Gameplay felt great and there was a lot of polish from the entrancing star field to the solid mechanics to the fitting sound and music. I really liked the overheat mechanic, forcing me to be smart with my use of weapons and pulls rather than just spamming attack and trying to blast my way through every obstacle. Well done!
Nice little game, simple and effective. Nice gfx style!
Really slick! The sound fx and overall feel of this was great! Very nice pixel art style to it.
Small but visually appealing and satisfying experience! Really impressed you've managed to make everything yourself!
