I loved the concept, graphics and difficulty in this game :D

This blue box is my new best friend, I carried i t around with me for so long that it felt like my blue "Companion Cube"  ≧◡≦

Also, I'm not sure if I found the secret animation...  may I get a little hint please? ^-^ Oh and no problems if the answer is "no", I'll keep trying to find it either way >_<

Great work on the game! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Developer(+1)

Thats such a sweet feedback, thank you so much. Regarding a hint. "Sometimes doing nothing, is better than doing something." I hope that will help 😁

Submitted

You're welcome, and thank you so much for the hint! :D It definitely helped, I'll check it out and come back later \(^-^)/

Omg I love the secret animation! Any chance it's a reference to a little blue guy that does something similar thing in an old game that shall not be named to not give spoilers to others?

Thank you so much again for the hint and congrats once more for the game :D

Developer(+1)

I do not know which game you are talking about, so please do spoil, i want to check it out. :D

Haha it's ok :D

I thought the secret animation was a reference to Sonics also kinda secret animation (More precisely from the classics Sonic 1, 2 and 3 games) \(*^-^*)/

In case you never played it: If you leave him still without pausing the game for too long, he does a couple of animations like "Hey, what's taking so long?" or "I'm getting impatient"  or " Hey, the time is running out, let's get moving" (at least that's how I've always interpreted them haha)

Welp that's it, sorry for taking so long haha >_< I should have said where I thought the inspiration was from since the begging

Hey, I found the concept interesting, however I was a bit frustrated with the way you have to play.

In the first level, I thought I had broken the piece with the blue brick (right at the beginning), only to find out that does not work. At first I though it was a bug, but after further thinking, I realised you could climb up the level and walk on clouds. I think you should better tell players what works or does not, cause I was playing thinking it was not the intedend way.

In addition, the game needs some polish like music and sound effects, to create better game feel and engagement

PS: I didn't find the secret animation :(

Developer(+1)

Hi, thank you very much for your feedback. I will work on improving these things, but for the time being, the first level was made in a way that there is no other way to pass except going there with your player. Also there was text explaining that enough impact is needed to break the box. Having in mind the fact that the blue box doesnt have gravity, the obvious choice is that it implies to the player.

Yes sound effects and polish is missing, I only had 3 days to make this.

The secret animation shows if you stay idle for longer than 10 seconds xD

Once again, I will try to further improve these things. Thanks for the feedback <3

really smooth animations and interesting mechanics, but could use a little bit more polish and maybe 3d models instead of just coloured cubes. besides that, it's a cool idea. good job!

the box made me rage a few times, but I enjoyed it. Really good work. Only thing I'd say is if you update the game, remove the falling out of the box when controlling it unless there's a mechanic that goes with it. Given the short amount of time, it's great work

I was confused and stuck on the first level for 5 minutes not understand why I can't progress. There is nothing tells me what I need to do in order to move to the next level. There was just hints about move, telekinesis, destroying block and nothing more.

The gameplay is playable and fine.

I appreciate it.

Pretty creative idea for a game! My time was 962 sec. It looked to me like the collider for the block is only wrapped around its back side which would explain why I would sometimes click on it and not have it be movable, which is really the only big flaw (I actually had a similar issue in the game I submitted where two of the colliders were way overextended and were triggering a no reason gameover lol). Another thing is that its actually possible to cheese the game a bit by jumping when you're on top of the block and while you're in the air move the block a bit closer to you and keep repeating that until you reach the intended platform, but that can totally be fixed by maybe doing a trace down on the block from the characters feet and if there is a hit, prevent it from being moved. Or maybe even make it an intended mechanic. I really like games like this cause you can easily keep building on top of them and make them really creative. A beneficial addition would maybe be to make the block still be visible if you accidentally obscure it by moving it into the ground or something (perhaps by maybe making the floor thinner or applying some sort of material to the block that allows it to still be seen when its moved behind something?((in UE4 you can achieve this with translucent materials by disabling depth test)).)And the secret animation is the one that plays if you're idle for a long time right? Its the only one I was able to find. But ya this is great for just 3 days! I had 6 days to do my submission and felt like I needed more time than that cause there were a bunch of graphical things that made the gameplay a bit more confusing than it could have been, but you managed to do it in 3,  awesome work!

Developer

Hey Alan. Thank you very much for the amazing feedback.

Yes the collider is a 2D plane, that's why its not as responsive as it should be. I am working on fixing this already.

The cheating mechanic is actually intentional. However, unless you are pretty skilled with using it, usually it will take you more time to complete the level using that mechanic, rather than following the natural path of the level.

For the block not being visible, i guess i can just make the block thicker than the walls and that should be an easy fix.

And yes that is the secret animation :D sometimes doing nothing in a game is not something we usually do, so you are the 2nd person from all to see that animation. <3

For 3 days of work it looks and feels awesome! I really dig the art direction of mixing 2D sprites(at least character looks like one) and 3D backgrounds. And in terms of gameplay, I had lots of fun with fiddling around with the box xd.

Developer(+1)

Really glad to hear that. Thank you for the feedback.

Really interesting concept. The mechanics might not be quite refined, but that's part of the fun, maybe. You can really cheese your way up by just jumping and moving the cube a bit up. Lost my cube at one point, because it was outside the screen and I couldn't reach it anymore. A recall button or automatically moving the blue box to the edge of the screen would really help.

Developer

Yes a lot of the mechanics are buggy. The "cheating" part is allowed since it allows more skill to effectively use it. Most people would get faster time by following the proper level flow. And regarding losing the cube, its also part of the game. The player needs to think ahead before they jump down, to make sure their cube would be reachable. But one can always restart the level by pressing "R". Appreciate the feedback <3

The mix of 2D and 3D is great but the telekinesis mechanic is a bit broken

Submitted(+1)

The 2D and voxel style is cute and the puzzle was nice as well. But it's a bit hard to get the jumps/falls right when you can't see where exactly the block is^^"
Also the first level just restartet when I reached the end of the level. Is that a bug or did I do something wrong?

Developer(+1)

Hmm it shouldnt restart. It depends how you ended it. If you placed your block into the portal, the portal should activate and once you enter it, it takes you to the next level. If you jumped too far maybe and got out of the screen, level would restart.

Submitted

Took a look at it again and it seems as if I was just being stupid and didn't realize that the block has to go into the portal xD
Btw how were you able to update the first level? I tried upload a small hotfix but couldn't do that =/

Submitted(+1)

I liked the mix of 3d and 2d! Gameplay was also fun too!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool game, I really like the mechanic it really fits the theme. It's pretty fun to play (even though I cheese it by jumping and pulling the block up under me so I can get anywhere I want - not easy but doable haha). I felt it would have been more easier for me to play if jump was mapped to the space bar, but that's just a personal opinion. Great work!

Developer

Hey thank you soo much for the feedback. Yes the "cheating" is purposefully allowed, since in order to use it you need to be more skilled

Submitted(+1)

Nice! Didn't find the secret animation, though 😢

Developer(+1)

Sometimes, the best thing you can do, is not do anything :D maybe that hint will help

Submitted(+1)

Fun game to play, I like the idea. Audio would add a lot to it but was still enjoyable

Developer

I absolutely agree. Will add once the jam is over.
