Very cleanly laid out! I just love how gamey it all comes to feel, you may be onto something new here! Please do keep exploring your ideas!

Calling this an adventure for Knave almost feels like a disservice - it essentially builds a Player vs DM miniature area control game on top of Knave as an engine. Really, really creative; I look forward to seeing it on the table.

Developer

What an endorsement! Thank you so much for saying so and we love that you enjoyed it! This is an honor to be mentioned this way!!

This is an interesting idea. The scenario is tracked on a large hex grid, with a procedure for advancing the threat of the bog beast/overgrowth in an almost board-game like fashion. I haven't seen anything quite like it in the challenge so far. This would be fun to run, but if there's one thing it's missing is evocative descriptions. The descriptions of many monsters are a bit too vague.

Developer

Thank you very much! We appreciate your kind words and the advice. You may see more vivid descriptions in an update the module. Stay tuned!

Some wonderful flavor for these encounters and sites. Procedures make this easy to use but also replayable.

Why not have the PCs start more in the middle of the map?

Developer

Thank you so much for saying so! We appreciate the feedback as well as the question! We imagined this as a clash of two forces over a shared home, but your point is incredibly interesting! This definitely will be a consideration for what will be added in the update to come. Thank you again for contributing to this and who knows that could be an addition to come thanks to that!

I love the idea of setting a battle map for the town and having the players and the GM facing off with the overgrowth, its a wonderful mechanic and should keep the adventure tense - it also really helps differentiate it.

I think a nice addition would be an optional hook for how to get players involved if they don't live in the town, maybe something like the 7 Samurai.

I like how you presented the monsters and their loot, which was a useful addition.

I like the inclusion of board game elements with the adventure.  Locations have some good flavor, and the layout was easy to follow for me.  Good work here.

Developer

Thank you so much for saying that! We are so grateful you enjoyed the locations and the details we added. Thank you once again!

Wow just the blurb drew me into this one.  It looks really fun to play almost like a board game.  Great job!

Developer

Thank you for saying so! Your module itself was inspiring to our work even if it doesn't match our tone!! We are honored you took the time to comment!!

Once the Weed Wacker weapon was introduced I really couldn't help but imagine Bruce Campbell as the lead knave, wild-eyed and blood-drenched, hacking away at living brambles to save the town! XD

However I didn't pick up that the grippli were supposed to be frog creatures until p. 14 when it says that they ribbit.

LMAO, well we are so glad that is the image that comes up in your mind! In fact, it is what we imaged too! We are so honored by this comment and really appreciate the feedback too. We will be sure to add context there in our next update!!

Superb layout of tables and flow of delivery.  Art choice is 🤌  love the thought that went into this, and I'm jealous of the back cover (less is more).  This feels like a moose skin notepad that you could pull out and run anywhere.  Well done

Thank you so much!! This is such a compliment coming from a designer like you and are so happy you felt the way you did! We are so honored by this!!

Excellent random encounters table! So nice seeing one that adds to the narrative and isn't just "d6 goblins." Very well done! Also, bravo on a short introduction! I love when it's a quick intro and I can get to the meaty rules. Putting your setting into the tables, hex descriptions, and monsters was very smart! My only suggestion is on the hexcrawl page, if there was a way to bullet point the rules there that would streamline it even more. Make it even easier to just jump right in to. Overall, great story and nicely laid out. Well done!

Developer

This is solid work. Excellent choice in art. The writing is clear if not concise. Organizationally I think this works for what it is doing. Interesting conceit to make protecting the village a board game hex crawl kind of thing. Lots of cool magic items. I think you go a hair lighter on the grey colour you use on alternating rows for random encounter table and monsters.

Very fun! Good concept with readable font-size! I love the overgrowth mini-game and this would be very fun to run with minimal alterations in almost any game :) nice Work!

Nice to see another bog monster adventure 😆. The hexcrawl mechanic sounds very fun! Seems straightforward and easy to run, and the players have full agency on where to go.

Developer

We are ao glad that you are showcasing a bog as well!! Thank you so much for your comment, it means the world to us and we are so glad those three points were effective for you!

The bog beast, overgrowth, and town hexes add a board game element to the adventure that I find quite appealing. I bet other people do, too. Fantastic job! I'll be running this one for sure.

Developer

Thank you so much, Brian! Your adventure was an inspiration itself and it is an honor to be ranked within your top 10!

I had the privilege of being able to help test the module and I had a blast playing it! Being able to have the decisions and guidance of the Hex map with the mix of DCC like gameplay was a good change of pace and kept the adventure engaging!
