Great job on the kaiju model! The textures came out really nice and the animation was good too! It was fun to knock down the buildings, the physics worked pretty nicely :)
Great start to a project here. I like the look of the Kaiju, and the way it moves. It feels a lot more like a cheesy Kaiju movie, with an actor in a costume smashing through a city model, than it does an a realistic monster and city, but I think that's a plus, it definitely adds to the charm! I'll add though, I found it really hard to play with the inverted mouse controls, so an option to change that would be great.
As simple as this was, let's be honest... messing with rigid bodies is always fun.
Indeed; a little simple physics can be more fun than it has any right to be :)
Liked the feeling, if you just take as a small sandbox test. The kaiju really looks and walks like a rubber suit with someone inside Dunno if this was the goal or only a consequence of retro graphics, but it's fun to look at
It was indeed my intention to make the walk a kind of hammy "guy in a monster suit" gait, glad it came across that way! Thanks again for trying it out, I know there wasn't much here so I didn't really expect anyone to rate it.
I really enjoyed the nostalgic graphics!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun working in that style, I think I'd like to do so again soon :)
Good visuals, particularly the Kaiju would look right at home in the PS1 era :)
If you had more time, what did you have planned?
Yeah, I felt like doing 3D in that sort of early 32-bit style and it actually turned out alright in that regard. My original plan was deliberately vague, but it would likely have been something to do with making your own kaiju to then rampage through a city and see how much damage you can cause (the model was actually modular, allowing for alternate parts).
Fun demo, it was enjoyable knocking over the Jenga like buildings.
Cheers! I originally wanted the destruction to be a little more explode-y, but in the end the cardboard-box city was kind of fun in a way.
That was really fun for a prototype! The art was excellent! I can see this becoming something a lot cooler with a bit more attention, sound and music!
Thanks so much for giving it a try, I almost didn't submit it but ended up doing so for completeness really. There's a lot more it could have been if I'd both had more free time and not had so many issues with the model pipeline, but I'm glad I did it.
