Description
This piece aims to represent the mysteriousness of the woman in the picture, who i decided to name Erika (just because it sounds fitting), while also capturing the serenity of the setting she is in.

Lessons Learned
I regret the fact that this piece could be way better if i just had managed time better and, most importantly, if i had the motivation to work on it more. Maybe the theme didn't inspire me enough, but i really wish i would've spent more time making the piece longer and mixing everything correctly (i literally just tweaked a couple of faders here and there 30 minutes ago and had to call it a day). I think my problem lies beyond just music, i have to work on my procrastination, willpower and consistency, things that i regularly struggle with.

Where did you source your cover art?
it's the image prompt

Mix wise is almost perfect imo, composition wise all those birbs tgthr with smoll percussion are perfect fit for the theme, overall instrumentation is so nice. Only thing i'd point out personally, is that birbs and perc going throughout the entire track without changing much/muting makes them feel a bit stale. Other than that is super good, one of the best subs in this jam frfr.

That build-up around 2:14 is awesome, great work!

The sax feels a bit muddy, not sure if its the register like FoxHyode mentioned or the sample itself, but felt that you could maybe have had it panned a bit more to the left to separate it more from the oboe in the stereo space too (just a feeling i got while listening)

The material itself is great, and that sax was a nice surprise when it came in.

Good work!

This is super creative. Those bird sounds match the image prompt perfectly. And the melody was beautiful. That part when the key changes was like "HELL YEAH"

Id love to hear how this sounds when mixed better though because this quality doesn't do your piece justice. Also, the scooping in the sax part was very distracting too. That needed to be cleaned up quite a bit.

Otherwise, it was still a great listening experience.

This is pretty good! Very lush and full of tone, warmth, and mystery. Very good work! Yah, FoxHyode, is correct. Some of those higher notes and blending didn't work the best. There was so much business! How did you mange it! Overall, great sound here and mixing. Really love the instrument set and tone you were able to capture with them.

The bird chirping that fills out the stereo high frequencies is really nice.  After a bit, you can tell the bird chirps are part of a long loop that slowly starts to suggest a rhythm, and by the end of the song, the bird chirps are almost functioning as hi-hats dancing with the shaker and the finger snaps in the background.  I don't know why I'm so fascinated with the bird chirping, maybe it's the way you've turned into into a percussive instrument.  And that's pretty darn neat.

The harmonies and melodies are serene, adventurous and well done.  The overall arrangement definitely evokes the image of cherry blossom petals floating on the breeze.  When the saxophone solo hits, I'm transported back in time to the early 1900's for some reason.  Which is perfect given the painting we were provided.  Nice work!

thanks for the feedback! About the chirps, i think it's mainly because they are arranged in an 8 bar loop where i tried to put them in random places while still maintaining a sense of flow with the rhythm, then i automated volume and panning in a sort of random pattern that loops every 16 bars. I think that's how i managed to make them sound random and intentional at the same time. Really glad you appreciate this subtle detail!

I like the huge build up. The best part is definitely after the break, its a cool arrangement with a nice and simple theme and the lush pads. I think the sax playing higher and the oboe lower would be better for this section, maybe i'm wrong but its worth a try, especially after all that build up.

Things to watch out is piano and strings together, there is a lots of note playing around the same range especially stacked chords on piano can get muddy fast and double the muddiness with reverb.  The Saxophone saved the day tone wise to give some release from everything it was very refreshing. I like the simple percusisons also, its nicely panned.
Well done !
