Description
Foreword:
First things first, I have to say I was really not feeling the theme this time around, so because of that I only submitted what I made on the first day, since I really couldn't get anything else done after that, even if I tried to.. π
I did keep a devlog like on previous jams, which is mostly just me moaning about being unable to get any ideas and some efforts on trying to do other stuff π

Music:
Made some moody stuff for the last jam I did (OST Composing Jam #8), so I wanted to do a bit more up-beat stuff in this one, but the little I got done ended up a bit too quirky/cheerful fit the image in my opinion, but since couldn't get anything other than this short 1+ minute thing done, that's what I'm submitting... π
Since I'm submitting early this time around and have time, I tried out having the sheet music in the video, which is hopefully somewhat readable.
Hopefully on the next OST #3 jam I'm a bit more productiveπ€
All feedback and Critique welcome as usual!
I also updated the blog website layout/theme, so hopefully its a bit more cleaner looking and readable than what it used to be.
Lessons Learned
Sometimes if I just don't get any inspiration from something, I should realize that and stop wasting time trying beat a dead horse.
Where did you source your cover art?
Picture of an apple tree in bloom that I took myself, last year iirc π

Vibing in shire with da boys during spring type beat. Very nice and upbeat, kinda wish the part that started at 1:20 lasted extra few minutes ngl, do be a jammer frfr.
Wow Eetu, you did a great job with this short one! I really enjoyed the playfulness and upbeat tones it had. Really good. And very cool you gave us the sheet music! You might not have been feeling, but it is still really good. I think the only thing I would change would be adding more dynamics, like soft, and loud, or places where it gets louder, then quiet again. It was a bit busy in that first page, at the last measure I would say. Maybe less runs?
The oboe section was really great. Loved it. Solid work!
Yea, really could've used more dynamic shifts...
I usually play stuff in so that stuff comes in naturally, but clicking notes in with the mouse in the piano roll I totally did not even think of that stuff at the time π
The part between the celeste and the oboe coming in at 0:38 for example would've probably been nicer if that had a little <> thing to build up and then go down.
Glad you liked it!
Your welcome! Always a pleasure to listen to your music!
Firstly, I enjoyed reading through the devlog! I've noticed I do very similar notes, but in a notepad, lol.
The track gives such whimsical and magical vibes. It actually reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, but specifically the Alice in Wonderland world (overall, a walk through an enchanted area vibe). I also think the Day 6 track could've also worked in succession to Stroll Through The Garden, with some tweaking done. Thematically, I could see it being a darker tone, perhaps the introduction to the dreaded season of Summer.
Probably could've made those work somehow, but just had 0 motivation to continue working on those after the day 5 & 6 tries π
Been meaning to play through the remastered HD remix versions of KH, but still haven't got around to it π
Glad you liked them!
The ending reminds me of kirby, definitely my favorite part
Played Nightmare In Dreamland on the GBA a lot back in the day, probably a good time for a replay π
Glad you liked it!
You might not have been feeling it, but I was. Playful and frolicking, your orchestration stands out from what I've heard so far in this jam with the light-hearted atmosphere you're creating. And that bass!!! The mix here is so nice.
The song's short length plays into your fun interpretation of Spring. It evokes the images of animals coming out of hibernation and celebrating the lukewarm, damp air by wrestling around, jumping, hopping, and playfighting with eachother. It's almost Disney-esque.
Maybe you didn't make anything else because you nailed it the first time! The cheerful take is very fitting IMO and this is a stand out piece.
Glad you liked it!
Kinda wish I'd had some more ideas on to add to this or maybe contrasting second track, but at least I got past the 1 minute time requirement π
