Jam Judge (1 edit)

Great work on the cutscenes and the lovely 3d models!

Very interesting battle system! It definitely needs some kind of tutorial to explain the player has to perform an input at the right timing! I couldn't figure out how to do a multiple combo though, if that's possible.

The story looks like it could be interesting. It's too bad it's only a very short prologue.

I found a possible bug: The EP bar (EXP?) stays at 100% after leveling up to level 2. In the character stats screen I can see the EXP is still going up after each battle, though. I kept going until level 3 and it still showed as 100%.

Looking forward to see what you can do with your project after the jam!

Edit: I just noticed you also included a Japanese translation of the UI and the dialogues. Very cool!

It's so neat yet too short, I crave for more!

The cutscene, animation, music choice are charming and the mechanic does reminisce of Mario RPG/Paper Mario!

At current state, it is a nice tech demo, what I could suggest is:

  • Clearer timing UI for the attack = currently I cant tell if the line is out of the ring or I still still press it.
  • Maybe implemented some Skill/Magic attack and test it out how it would work in this kind of game

    (Button sequence or somethings else?)

Overall, I see the potential in this game and look forward to its development!

Very cute! I wish you'd had more time to add content!

This is a cute start to a game. It's a shame you ran out of time before you could get to telling much of a story. I do think this project could have benefited from a fleshed out project timeline or some kind of design doc. Something you could use to assess your progress objectively and prioritize crucial features so that what you do submit can still convey what you want it to, and you won't have to worry about Mel climbing in your windows to fight you later XD

What you were able to get done shows promise. I already like the humor even in the little bit there is to play. Your animations are nice too.

The animations, models, and mechanics are all really good. Not much variety in the combat, but I still grinded to level 3 so I could One Shot the enemies when doing the full combo.

Wow, its short, but what you have here is very well polished. The UI, animation, writing, visual style are all professionally done.
Not much of gameplay here, but would really love to see more from this engine you've been developing.

Very interesting mechanics. It would be amazing if the QTE mechanic can be used to avoid/reduce damage during the enemy's attack as well.

The models and environment looks great and I loved the smooth animations. I'm not too familiar with the timed combat with these kind of games but I quickly got used to it and started enjoying it. The only thing disappointing about the game that it wasn't longer because it feels like the start of something great. Good job and hopefully you'll be able to continue on improving this!

I really loved this system actually. The animations, models and writing were great. I wish there was a bit more to it since its basically just the cutscene and a training room, but you did mention that in the dialogue lol.

Good luck working on the RPG system!

I love it! Great animations! Great writing! The gameplay is not new, but I like the way you implemented Mel's ROLLING PUNCHES! Great art and design, really fit well aesthetically!
