Are the missing floor tiles supposed to be a hint on which direction to go or are those bugs?
Less enjoyable than the other 256x256 generator dungeon game.
Just for flavor really. But if I actually tried they could serve as 'hints.'
I was lost in a maze and died to scorpions, I'm glad it's over lol jk :p
Unfortunately I ran into a softlock when some Knight guy tried to sing at me.
The premise was funny, but I got the joke early enough to where that bug probably just saved me some wandering around an anonymous maze spamming Fire2.
Like others have said, with some refinement coulda been quite interesting.
It looks like I wasn’t the only person with the idea to make a cursed 256x256 maze. Oh by the way, the end sequence (dialog followed by credits) repeats indefinitely.
A joke game that turned into a to torture device for players. To quote my 4 year old "Why did they forget to make this a good game?" Wanted to beat it!
You're absolutely right. I call this 'unintentional horror.' I'm thinking of ways to polish it after the jam. One idea is that I could change the walls so that it actually looks like the Backrooms, lol. Originally I did intend for there to be an item that would teleport you directly to Harold, but that was slightly beyond my paygrade.
But as for why I forgot to make it a good game, it's because I made this on a bloody minded whim, with a very limited time frame.
You achieved horror all too well. Personally, I blame BG!
He was the one who caught me right in the mood to take his joking suggestion seriously. It was another who suggested making it 256x256.
Simple entry that with a bit more polish could have been a lot better.
A large 256 by 256 map is a funny joke but often random encounters of the same enemy on a low detailed maze is not very fun.
I didn't play this one for very long due to the undesirable encounter rate.
I had to play this as this started as a joke between me and someone else on discord. I do wish the dungeon wasn't 256 x 256 with random battles as I'd like to have been able to see what happens in the end when I find this legendary bedmaker. Still a decent start to a premise that could be polished up into a little 15 - 30 minute game with some time.
