In Strange Surge, the squirrel gains strange power-ups by eating acorns and berries, which allow it to change size—growing larger or shrinking smaller. These unusual abilities are key to solving puzzles and navigating the levels. The power-ups are essential for overcoming obstacles, reaching new areas, and progressing through the game, making them a unique and strange twist on traditional platformer mechanics.

Cute and charming platformer game 😊!
This was a nice platform game with a calming atmosphere. This was partly due to the cute art style and background nature sounds. It had a peaceful vibe. Power-ups... check, they were present. Maybe not very strange. That could perhaps be made crazier in a future update. Also some more levels and extra enemies would be fun in an update of this game. Controls were good..the edges maybe a bit slippery of the platforms but I think deliberate and it did allow to jump over the edge a bit.
All in all, a fun game and good jam entry. Nice job!💪
I'll definitely consider adding more strange power-ups and new enemies in the future. I'll also take a look at the platform edges to see if I can tweak them. Appreciate the support!
Lovely game with sound effects and smart level design ^^ I started thinking about the platforms while playing and thought that it would look adorable if they were branches or cliffs. To match a bit more with background, don`t know if the floating ground is part of the vision but thought to bring it up! good job!!
I love the idea of using branches or cliffs for the platforms to match the background more, definitely something to think about for future updates! Appreciate the suggestion and support!
Great platformer with puzzle features, every level introduces new mechanic, some levels require thinking, some needs skill, great mix, floating feels very cool. controls are smooth and game is fun, awesome work.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the mix of puzzle and skill-based levels. I appreciate your feedback and support!

Good work. I liked the game though it definitely made me question those mushrooms. They remind me of those ceiling creepers in minecraft. Y'know when you are mining and they just drop and explode on you. XD
I definitely enjoyed the game. Keep it up
Thanks for Playing! Glad you enjoyed the game and those mushrooms kept you on your toes! I was aiming for that unexpected element to keep things interesting. Appreciate the support!
Noice 👌
I really liked this platformer because of the platformer gameplay! Platforming actually felt good and responsive! Art & animations were nice too! Great job!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the platforming and art.
simple gameplay mechanics not too confusing movement was compact and beautifully designed. one critics i would give is on level 6 i seem to cant beat it hehe
Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the gameplay mechanics and design. 😊
For level 6, here are some hints to help you progress:
I hope this helps you conquer level 6! Enjoy the game, and thanks for playing!
Cool entry! I liked your take on a puzzle platformer, the mechanic of shrinking and growing made for an interesting approach. Unfortunately, I could not for the life of me figure out how to get past level 3. One critique for the game is that i think binding the glide button to the f key made for some really difficult controls to execute. It felt unnatural to me to try and space and then d/f at the same time, I think using the w key for glide would have worked a bit better. Overall, I think you made game that fits the theme nicely and has some nice execution of puzzle platforming. The art and music work well enough for the game. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you liked the mechanics and found the puzzle platformer concept interesting. I appreciate your thoughts on the controls—I'll definitely consider adjusting the glide button for a smoother experience. As for level 3, it’s great to hear your perspective; I aimed for a challenging design, but I’ll look into adding hints or making it clearer how to progress. Thanks again for playing and sharing your thoughts!
First of all, it was fun to play! However, I found it a bit annoying that when you get enlarged by a power-up, you constantly get stuck somewhere. But,great job anyways! and.... I got stuck on level 4, though, so a little hint on how to progress would be nice.
Thanks for playing and for your feedback! The enlargement mechanic is actually part of the puzzle—when you grow larger, navigating tight spaces becomes impossible, so avoiding certain power-ups like the acorn is key to solving some areas. For level 4, the trick is to glide from the upper platform towards the exit. It's meant to challenge your understanding of the mechanics, but I appreciate the feedback and will consider adding more hints in the future!
I found your game incredible, excellent visual and sound elements, good level design, the movements are fluid, in general. Definitely a good job, congratulations.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the visuals, sound, and level design. It means a lot to hear that you found the movements fluid as well. I'd love to hear if there’s anything you think could be improved or any areas where you felt the game could be better. Your feedback would really help me make the game even more fun!Your feedback keeps me motivated.thanks again!
Very cool mechanics bro, i liked so much the idea and the implementation i like so much the puzzle mechanic and the character's sprites

Done! I rated your game. It was really fun to play, and I look forward to any updates you might add!
Really loved the squirrel and overall art design of the game! The movement felt slippery and making it hard to control the movement. Overall a pretty nice fun cute game. The gliding mechanic was pretty unique and fun as well. Great work!
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I’ve actually replaced the box collider with a capsule collider to help make movement smoother, especially for jumping between platforms. It works well in most cases, but I’m curious—did you notice the slippery feeling mostly when the player was on the edge of a short platform, or was it happening elsewhere too? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
The art was awesome, the poor squirrel looks so sad when he dies lol. The gliding mechanic was also fun! Small piece of feedback is that the controls of the squirrel felt a little too slippery. Overall nice job!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the art and the gliding mechanic! 😊 I appreciate the feedback on the controls — I used a capsule collider for the player, which might be making the movement feel a bit slippery, especially on the edges. I'll look into adjusting that for better control. Thanks again for playing!
I noticed that at higher fps levels it's less slippery for some reason, might it be a physics kind of thing?
very cute Art and superb Level Design. Also a nice take on the theme! Well Done!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the art and level design. I wanted to create something fun yet challenging. Appreciate your feedback on the theme!
I think its fun and challenging. You really succeeded!
Thanks again
I liked this a lot. The graphics were cute and the game flowed well between stages. I thought the stages did a good job introducing me to the game mechanics and the powerups. I wasn't sure how to get past the first level with the mushrooms - I couldnt figure out how to collect the berry.
Sound effects were great for this game - I especially loved the ambient insect noises. It was very thematic.
Great game thank you for sharing!
Thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback! Regarding the mushroom and berry, you’re right—it’s a bit of a puzzle. You need to use the mushroom to push the berry down, but you have to act quickly and collect the berry before the mushroom falls. It’s a bit of strategy and timing to figure out how the enemy mechanics work. Glad you enjoyed the sound and overall experience!
Thanks for the hint! I played through the rest, and really enjoyed how the last two levels tested all my skills. This was an impressive jam entry! One thing that would have been nice is if the camera panned more in the direction I was moving - a lot of the time it was centered behind me. But I liked how you used that on level 9 for the mushroom trap :)
The visuals are very cute! I really liked the effort put into the level design here (I especially liked the hedgehod idea in the 10th level). It's nice how almost every room has something new in it. Great game!
Overall a nice puzzle platformer game. Art is really cute, puzzle are decent good build some more difficult than others which is good!
You did a good job on the theme for sure and nice story for the squirrel.
Thank you for the feedback! Interestingly, I haven’t added a story yet, but it's great to hear the game sparked that impression. I'll definitely be adding a full story in the complete version along with more challenging puzzles!
The art looks great, and i loved the ambiance's sound ! The levels are challenging with in my opinion a good level design ! And you had good ideas for the power ups !
Congrats for your game !
Thank you so much! 🙏 Really glad you enjoyed the art, sound, and level design! Appreciate the kind words about the power-ups too
Had a blast playing all the way through. The character is super cute and fun to move around. I found the glide mechanic worked better if you sort of flapped your way through instead of gliding.
Discovering the mechanic on level 6 was very satisfying. Level 8 was unforgiving and might have been much harder than any other part of the game.
I often found myself not being able to see the danger in front of me due to camera position. The mushroom in level 9 is a good example.
Really great game! Nice work. This one really excelled at level design.
Thanks a lot! Happy to hear you enjoyed it and found the glide mechanic fun. I'll definitely look into the camera positioning to improve visibility. Appreciate your thoughts on level 8 and the feedback on level design!
Yeah! It's the first game I played i this jam! It's good to start a jam with a good one :)
I liked the difficulty curve! The latter levels gave me a pause, but only for a minute. I didn't know you can "restart" the glide at first, but apparently could figure it out.
I think you could have went harder with on a theme. Some of the latter levels felt like there was no powerups at all (but the level design was good). I get that it's difficult to make a good level with puzzles in ten days :)
Oh! And the puzzles! For a short game, they really work, and I can imagine seeing them in a bigger game. The last one (with the hedgehog) was everything I want from a puzzle-platformer. It took a bit of thinking to figure out, and some agility to execute, so again- really good!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed the difficulty curve and puzzles, especially the hedgehog one! I appreciate the feedback on the theme and power-ups—I'll keep that in mind for future projects. Your support means a lot, and I'll definitely keep working to improve!
