Dang, this was good! Super clever way to show the pending jumps and great, well, everything! The speed ramp felt really good, was not board at all.

Developer

Thank u so much!! We're so glad u had fun playing :)

Probably prettiest game I played this jam, good job to all your artists :)

- Huge fan of the presentation, down to the texture of the sharp clean interactive UI distinguishable from its fuzzy pretty art
- Huge fan of how cohesive the theming is: You're made of wax, your health is wax, you heal by getting more of it
- Impressed with the variety of platforms especially considering I barely survived 87 seconds
- Really like how the back of the chandelier showcases upcoming platforms and keeps stuff not being immediately in sight from completely blindsiding you once the speed gets very high

Wishlist/Random improvement ideas as tribute:

- Wish there was something more stapled onto the core loop. Mario has fireball and it felt like the little guy needed something more novel/on theme than just doublejumping
- Wish the particles for the playable character were prettier or dropped. Think the clearly circular particles is the only thing that kind of clash with the rest of the aesthetic while the static platform fires looked pretty.

We really appreciate the feedback, we'll take those things into account in the future! Thank you so much for the encouragement 🙏, you guys really keep the team motivated, especially since this is our fist jam together.

Submitted(+1)

Impressive, everything was so consistent I thought you were a team for a while now :)

What a well put together game, the visual style is top notch.

Game looks so professional, needs more ratings. The gameplay loop is simple but controls are tight and the rng on the candle stick types is a nice touch.

Nice work.

Developer

Thank you so much for the nice comment! So glad that you enjoyed the game :)

Really cool idea, loved the wax character, the arts and the music, very well done congrats

Thank u so much!! Glad u enjoyed it :)

This was so cute! I had issues with it displaying on my 1440p monitor, some elements shifted to the top left but other things didn't, so looked kind of weird. I moved the game over to my 1080p monitor and it worked great. Aside from that, it plays great, looks great, sounds great, kind of reminded me of Cuphead in style. I would say that, while it's fun, some more variety in the gameplay would be nice, I found myself not really interested in playing it again once I got a decent run (~70s). But still, a pretty solid game.

Thank you for playing and taking the time to leave a comment!

Sorry to hear about the resolution issues. We’ll definitely look into it for future releases.

Submitted(+3)

Very well done!! The art is extremely good and the overall play feel is great. This deserves more ratings :)

Developer(+2)

Thank you! We had a lot of fun crafting the visuals and vibe of the game, so it’s great to hear that stood out. This is actually our first game jam as a team, so this kind of feedback means a lot. Fingers crossed more players stumble across it!

Excellent game!  Very well polished.  I lasted 125s.  200 seconds sounds crazy and I'm going to look for runs like that now to see how fast it could get.  I played on an Xbox controller and it controlled well.  Having the jump button mapped to Up on the left stick is an interesting choice though but there is probably some places or people that prefer it.  GJ!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it!

Honestly, I'm baffled you could even play on an Xbox controller since we didn't program any controller support as far as we know. I just tested it and yeah it does work... but the mapping is terrible!

125 is an impressive mark, some of the devs couldn’t even make it past 100 but the fact that you did that with a controller is wild lol. Only two team members have made it past 200 points and honestly, they’re deranged and unemployed, hahah

What a great game! A simple yet super engaging game concept with really fantastic art to boot! I ended up with a high score of about 120 seconds.

Excellent work!

Developer(+3)

Glad you enjoyed it! 120 seconds is a pretty solid score! Really appreciate the kind words. 🙌

The art in this one is absolutely incredible, my jaw dropped when I saw the animations. One of the best (if not the best) entries of this jam, congratulations!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Glad you liked it and thanks for playing <3

The art is absolutely gorgeous, the gameplay was also really fun. I did have a small issue where I didn't have it take up my full screen but I think that was due to me being on a 2K resolution monitor so I just switched to my other monitor and it worked perfectly :) the characters were great, the music was great, the gameplay was really fun! This was a genuinely really good submission. Great job!

Developer(+2)

Hey thanks!! We're so happy that you enjoyed and supported our game. Sorry for the issues you had, they were probably because of a lack of testing, but the usual for a game jam i gues hahaha 🤗

Submitted(+3)

Hey if the only issue I had was a resolution issue that was solved by going onto another monitor, I say that means you have a pretty damn solid game! But seriously, the vibes were immaculate on this game!

(1 edit) (+4)

I downloaded it first on my computer (a laptop from 2016, not made for playing) and it only showed the cursor over a black screen. Then, I tried on a different computer and it worked perfectly, so it may be my graphics card I guess.

Anyway, as many other people have said, the art is beautiful! Also the music is so catchy, did you design it yourselves?

It is amazing, really :) congratulations!

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Sorry for the issues you had, but we're glad that you managed to play in the end and enjoyed the game ✌️

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear it didn't run on your first laptop and thank you for giving it another shot on a different computer.

Yes, we did everything ourselves, art, models, animations, sound design, music, etc.

(+4)

WOW the art on this is actually amazing. The 3d background and gameplay reminded me of Mario Party minigames. Are the collisions and stuff handled 2d? or 3d?

Developer(+1)

Thanks! 😊 All the collisions are actually handled in 3D, including the player's character. Really appreciate you playing and supporting the team! :))

The best ideas are simple ones. Add fun art and sound to the mix, and it's more than enough to have a good time. Just a minor note about the background TextureRect of the menu + other Control nodes not scaling up on varying resolutions. But other than that, the game itself was enjoyable and challenging. Good job team!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game. We appreciate the heads-up about the menu scaling, definitely something we’ll look into for future updates. Thanks for playing and supporting the team!

All around really great. Game felt great to play. Always a fan of mechanics where your health is also a sort of mana/ability use cost. Goes without saying the art is great. I don't know if there is sound but if there is none of the audio was working for me. Im assuming there is because there were volume sliders in the settings. Other than that great game!

Developer

Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed the mechanics. We thought the idea of health doubling as a resource could be interesting. And yes, there is sound, so thanks for pointing that out! Several people tested the Windows version without any audio issues, so it’s odd that it didn’t work on your end. Could you let us know which operating system you were using? That might help us narrow down the problem.

Really appreciate you playing and leaving feedback! :D

Submitted(+1)

Windows 10 was the OS i used.

Submitted(+1)

Downloaded it again and for whatever reason it works now. Maybe it was just a weird random mishap on my end. Sorry about that, music is great!

Developer(+1)

Haha. Don't know what could have been the issue before but I'm glad you were able to try it with music. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+4)

I loved it!! The gameplay feels nice to control, the mechanic of staying alive before your flame is consumed works very well and, particularly, the art is GORGEOUS. Seriously well done, this game is sweet to see. Simple yet effective!

Developer

Huge thanks for your kind words. Really glad you enjoyed the game and the visuals! :)
