Humor was awesome! I really enjoyed this entry! The puzzles were simple, but did make me think a little. I think you hit the right level for a jam game. Would love to see more animation/juice in the visuals but this was really fun!
I agree with the comment that clicking over and over to move around got a little tiring, but not off putting.
Great entry, I really enjoyed all the humor. Would love to see a little animation, esp on things like the fire. Keep it up!
you forgot to set the resource dummy -> Extinguisher, 2024
Heh, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the idea that ghosts are capable of wielding hammers with deadly intent. Had a good time, looking forward to what you do next!
As a fan of the old classics, especially LucasArts, this really hit the mark for me. The humor is spot-on, and the concept is both fun and clever, with a very creative use of Control Nodes. My only wish would be for a smoother, quieter walking, bringing it up to today’s standards while still honoring the charm of the '94 originals. This definitely has potential for retro greatness.
I liked the humor in this one a lot. I wish you could hold a direction to move since pressing the key each time can get tiring (accessibility). Slummy goes hard tho, also the ending was good. Definitely would like to see more slumlord-type games in the future lol.
Thanks! Always worried my humour doesn’t hit the right note glad to see people love it! I am thinking once the judging of the game jam is done I will release a Quality of Life version to fix movement!
Looks like another person like me who made a desktop simulator based game haha. I liked the idea, but the movement was too annoying to keep playing after going through the portal. I didn't want to get carpal tunnel. Perhaps you could check every half second or so if the player was holding one of the movement buttons, and continue movement if they are holding it?
Thank you for the feed back! It was funny that the desktop adventure games were sold because they looked like an application so you could look like you were working. They even had a “Boss Key” button. Oh that is a good way of doing it and then some sort of tick/timer that prevents the user from shooting across the room as well!
Aint no way slummy is just hitting the rats with a hammer that cwazy
Maybe in the next work you control an army of cats? hehe
I wish, wish, wish, you could have heard me laugh when I realized the hammer was the solution to the rats. As someone who has rented from a slumlord or two, please accept my appreciation for this game.
Same notes as everyone else, slamming WASD was kinda not it. But it didn't stop me from enjoying it. I loved the presentation and formatting for it. You should keep at it and stick around for more jams :)
Thanks for the feedback! So glad that humour came across I was a bit worried that people might be a little offended! But living in some crazy place and working in places with rats it was my twisted humour, though I just used regular traps. No hammer.
Fun little puzzle game. I had to switch hands halfway through because my wrist was hurting from the tapping.
Thanks for the feed back and sorry about that! I will release a QoL update I think to fix need to tap so much!
Congratulations on finishing your first game. It was nice and fun, and I finished it. But as VPETER1119 said, smashing WASD was not pleasant for walk around. But everything else was polished and I did not find any bugs. :D
Thank you! I tried to make all the components independent entities and I believe that is how I was able to avoid bugs this round!
Congratulations on finishing your first jam, what you created is playable and fun, and that is no small feat. I like the idea of the deceased landlord fixing the issues like unsresolved business, though I fell a bit sorry for him.
My only issue was with the controls, it was unfomfortable to smash WASD to get around the map (and you did have to go back and forth) without the option to just press and hold.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I agree I should have made it a hold down option, like a slight delay so you could still do quick movement around boxes!
Welcome to Game Jams! I think it's really neat that you finished something and made the submission deadline.
Thank you very much!
