I had to adjust my monitor to see at all, having a brightness option would have been nice.  There was also some squirrliness with the light, sometimes it would flash enemies through walls.  They moved  erratically but since they're all one-hit, I didn't mind.  I also appreciate respawning instead of restarting, I wouldn't have been able to finish if that was the case.

Hey, great job finishing your second full game! I just had some difficulty with the enemies. Not sure how the enemy spawning works, but when I get sent back to start, they don't seem to reset so I end up in a loop of a bunch of enemies killing me instantly at spawn. Also they seem to randomly move really fast sometimes, so I'll think I'm good but then they just rush me.

Overall pretty solid for a short, simple game. My biggest feedback is on the enemies. The one time I did die was because an enemy spawned right where I was. Also, it seemed to me that the enemies spawned on a timer, which meant that they continued to spawn no matter how many were still spawned. So my 2 suggestions are, have the spawner detect if the player is near and to avoid spawning more enemies while the player is in the area, and chose some way to limit the amount of enemies spawned by a spawner. That could be keeping track of how many spawned enemies are still alive, or maybe waiting to spawn another enemy until the currently spawned one has moved far enough away. That way you don't get these areas where enemies are just bunched up and you don't spawn tons of them.

Fairly good game but you are missing 2 things:

- Correct light. Currently you can shoot at wall and it kills everything in a radius. There should be some logical way of blocking the light so it does not go through was. With Raycast you can then check which enemies were visible.

- Performance. I died, after few seconds I had a swarm of black thingies on me and even my MacBook Pro M3 Max showed me a tab memory warning and the game was super laggy.

Developer

I see, thank you for the feedbacks. I'll try tweaking and optimizing it in the future. The lights I'll try experimenting with your raycast suggestion, and I forgot how laggy it can actually be.

I'm loving maze so your game is attractive for me ! One shot for enemy is a little bit rude as sometimes the light doesn't work but hey, it's a jam ! Nice entry :)

I didnt' have the patience to search for the last element after going 9/10. It became a bit frustrating not knowing where to actually look. sorry :/

The game looks nice even though the graphics are very simple. It fits the jam's theme perfectly.

The biggest problem with the game are the enemies. They tended to get stuck in big clumps instead of chasing me. They also never evolved or anything. It would have been cool to see more dangerous enemies as you progress throughout the game.

Initially I thought that the flashlight was broken, but turns out you can only click on the ground right in front of you.  After I realized that, I never had any issues with it.

Developer

Thanks, and that's good to know.

I see, that's understandable, I still have no idea why they get like that, I'll try fixing in the future. I see, I honestly didn't think about like that, mostly just wanted it to be simple. I guess so, I didn't really think about that so maybe in my future games.

Yes, it's good that you caught that, and that's good to know aswell.

Thanks for playing my game.

Having the map at the start was a great idea! The flash light seems to be a little janky, it was a bit frustrating untill i realised wne you die the map is not reset adn you can continue on your quest. Killed 99 shadows on my path the victory.

Developer

That's great to know. Understandable, my bad for not communicating it clearly. The flashlight isn't supposed to work when it's clipping inside walls or entities including your character. Yes, I made it like that so it isn't frustrating when you lose. That's great to know.

Hey, the game is very challenging and fits the jam theme very well! 🔦

I had a lot of fun playing it, the maze and the shadow enemies were engaging.

The only thing I found a bit annoying was that the flashlight control is not very responsive, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

I completed the game in around 10min, very solid entry. Congrats! 🎉

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The thing about the flashlight is that it won't work if it's clipping the walls or entities, including the character you're controlling. Honestly my bad for not being able to properly communicate that.
