Game Description
You are a vampire actor trying to navigate to your next scene, but avoid the lights on set!

How does your game tie into the theme?
You are a vampire and you can't stand the light, it's literally an obstacle for you. In order to pass through the areas with light, you must block them so it is dark enough for you.

It's cool to see all the ideas for the theme. A vampire didn't even cross my mind so it was a really good idea given the mechanics you can build around them.

The last jump took a few tries but that's fine given it's one of the last pieces of the level. It's always satisfying to pull off a double jump so I don't have an issue with it.

Very fitting music too!

The background story is cute and game play was fun. The last big jump was a bit of a challenge for me, but as a final “boss” worked well.

if jump is just barely possible to do that maybe not a good design as players may get frustrated to try again and again. maybe instead of light blocking your way, kill the vampire when they hit the light and respawn it at start or at a checkpoint near. other than that good game. Good work for gamejam!

For the jumping, are you talking about just the last jump challenge, or jumping throughout. I definitely made the last jump hard to execute as a final challenge for the game, but I'd love to know if the whole level was balanced poorly

I think the last jump was challenging but also some other jumps you need to double jump were bit hard to execute.

Good start. With more interactive objects, real light that can burn you instead of a shape that can just push you away, animations and better mood it can be actually a good game. Right now the best part of your game is the music. I had it playing for like 15mins on a loop :D

Developer

We definitely brainstormed more interactive objects, but didn't have enough time to implement. Movable boxes almost made it in, but they were still too buggy to be included yet.

I thought about having the light damage you, but I felt like it would be too hard to balance in a way that made it interesting. So I went with the simpler idea of light just being an obstacle. If you have suggestions about that, I'm open to hear them.

More levels would have been nice, but this is overall pretty good :)

Nice puzzle platformer.

Art and music was a bit simple but clear enough.

More levels would have been great, but understand the time constraints.

Cool little platformer. Liked the concept of being vampire and avoiding the spot light. Music is a pure bop. I found the jumping little hard to get the right height but other than that. Great work :)

Developer

Are you just talking about the jump at the end, or throughout the level? I definitely made the last jump hard on purpose as the final challenge in the game.

I just replayed through it just to see. Yes it was the last jump. If that what you intended that is fair enough. I think I just had harder time trying to get it the first time around I guess. With know how high my jumps were an all, but didn't have nearly as much bother there now.
