Wildcards Used
Trash is everywhere, blood is fuel

Game Description
You're a janitor sent in to clean up the trash not worth the Hero's time. Your blood lantern is your only source of light, until even blood power isn't strong enough to fight back all of the darkness.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Illumination powered by blood is your only way to traverse semi-safely. Before too long illumination fails you and you must rely on other sources.

This is a dungeon crawler. Make no mistake, you are a warrior disguised as a janitor.

While competently made, this is such a slow pace. The "junking speed" upgrade for junking feels like a free-to-play scam (even though we're in a jam where games are expected to not have price tags on them).

Death is incredibly punishing. When combined with the slow pace, I couldn't just keep retrying.

There are lessons to learn here. Think through this, and come back in January!

Thanks for playing! I appreciate your feedback. This was my first jam and first project in godot on top of it, so I spent a lot of time figuring out how to do something rather than doing it.

There was a lot left I wanted to do and a lot of balancing that still needed done, but I’m happy the idea came across at least.

Fun game, with a nice gameplay loop. Enjoyed playing it but can't get too far in. Spawn rate is faster than I'm able to upgrade myself unfortunately. The music change on the appearance of a foe is really nice.

The spiders feel nice, just the other enemy type feels a bit weird and tend to stack on top of each other (4-5 times was the highest on my end so far)

I tried getting the spawning to feel better, but just ran short on time.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to add more upgrade types and enemies as well, but time really is a factor. I'm thinking about re-doing it as a 3D project now that I know my way around Godot a bit better.

I'm using an Xbox One controller and RT doesn't do anything.

Good game but too difficult.  I wasn't able to past like the 2nd room and died on the 1st many times.  I think the enemy attacks constantly when they aren't supposed to.

I appreciate all the work that was done because the map looks significant.  I'd play again if it was easier to control and block or destroy those nasty spider balls, and attack.

I think the problem with enemies is spawning on top of one another and multiple attacks hit, which is something I want. Just not 3 of the same guy hitting you at the same time haha.

I couldn't get the spawnrate to feel how I wanted it with the time I had, so I was disappointed in that aspect. I did make the light around enemies' feet to display their attack/sight ranges. If you know just when to attack before the skeleton can hit you, you can hit him without being hit. Even if there are multiple (which again, I wish there wasn't).

Anyway, thank you for playing! I apologize about the RT button as well, mine seemed to work fine with several controllers. I'll have to look into that.

Thanks for sharing! What an interesting concept, cleaning up after the heroes haha.

The player is a bit slow and the green enemy is too hard to kill for me, I like that the spiders stuns you and that you can upgrade both you combat and "cleaning skills". Good job!

Nice interpretation of the theme! Would have liked control instructions for PC/keyboard

Developer

I'll make sure to leave them in the details next time, but they are put on the floor in-game once you start it.
