Good job! Making an RTS game for a game jam seems like no easy task, but you pulled it off. I feel like the strategy was a little bit too simplistic, but the core was fine.

As others I was confused with the non-clickable icons, but ended up understanding you had to use the hotkeys.

The enemy AI was actually pretty decent! At the beginning it was generating cavemen faster than me and they sent cavemen to attack me near the middle. That’s already pretty good, especially for a game jam, I felt threatened!

The sound is directional. It might make sense for fighting noises, but for the grunts when giving people orders I’m not so sure (it felt unnatural when I started the game). The sound effects are nice by the way.

They were some bugs. For example one enemy I killed seemed to have left a sprite behind: no-one could attack it, and it didn’t move or attack anything. Also, right-clicking on enemies doesn’t do anything (it doesn’t even move them), so to actually attack I had to move my cavemen next to the enemy and wait for the auto-attack. I had some issues with the prayer when I launched the game the first time. I double-clicked on the stone, and then my cavemen where unable to pray: as if the statue was not selectable anymore. Even moving the cavemen away and nearby again didn’t work It just happened once, I don’t know if it was just a rare edge-case bug or not.

So good job! The potato god is no more, all hail the bread god!

Thanks for such a thorough feedback. I'm glad you like it in whole, especially AI, which I started to implement just a couple of hours before deadline tbh and was afraid I won't even make it capable of anything :) But luckily, all the previous week spent on the architecture mostly allowed to add AI relatively easy.

As for the bugs, yeah, I know about them already, thanks. I've even fixed them already and going to update the game tomorrow I believe :) So, stay tuned for updates! :)

Really great game, it's a bit simple to be a RTS but is still really entertaining, the art style is a bit inconsistent and i feel that with music it would feel a lot better, still a really great job.

Thanks :)

Once I realised I should be praying to bread it all made more sense! Good fun there, like others I was impressed you went for an RTS game! Bread is obviously superior to potatoes...

Developer

Haha, thanks! For Bread! :)

I think I have never seen a RTS game in a jam so nice try!

It was very confusing that I can click on building, but not on icons. I almost quit, because I thought that game is broken.

Then it was pretty ok, but enemy AI can be easily tricked.

Later in the game there was a bug, where people pray, but I didn't receive any resources :C

for second game it was pretty good and you took a big risk with rts game so bonus points for originality!

Would you like to rate my game? I would love to receive your feedback!

Thanks! Yeah, I logged in to itch now specially to rate other submissions finally :)

As for RTS, yeah, it turned to be not so easy as I expected, that's why I even had no time left for some other things like intro or instructions. Even no menus, cause I spent last hours just making an AI and fixing all the bugs that occured related to that :) But I still happy I got that experience, faced a lot of things I didn't even expect to meet.

A bit hard to control sometimes but once you get it down, its really nice! Bread god beats potato god everyday!

again non clickable icons were a little confusing at first...

Also the tootip for upgrading the bread often ended up "under" my units so I had to guess the upgrade cost.

but yeah it has made me realise why I haven't done a RTS for a jam... RTSs are hard to pull off right :P but it was a solid effort and quite fun :)

Developer

Thanks! :)

Once I figured it out, it was pretty fun. I was confused by the fact that I couldn't click on the icons, but had to use the hot keys. Also the tooltips are sometimes obscured by the units.

Developer

Thanks :) Yeah, non-clickable icons is my fault. They were planned initially, but since I faced some bugs with it, I decided to skip it, cause I didn't attach much importance to it.
