Liked the idea of this but reluctantly have to agree it was just a tad too tough for me to make any decent progress. Had a few attempts but for me the biggest puzzler was I wasn't sure where I was supposed to go. Not bad at all though!

This is crazy. Didn't beat the game yet but I think I'm getting the hang of it (finally after 20 games or something). Definitely going to beat it someday :D

The graphics are simple, but the complexity is impressive.

I think the game could be a bit more forgiving in terms of starving or all together a bit more balanced. But on the other hand, a hard game has also its charm.

Hey, really cool game!

Very cool mechanics (interesting idea of having only two slots), and I liked discovering the crafts by trying different combinations.

But as everyone mentioned, it is way too hard. Even after I had found all the crafts (confirmed it by looking at the source code), I was still very far from succeeding.

  • If I focused on feeding myself, I could still starve to death with bad luck.
  • Even when I tried just going south (not crafting a raft), I never saw the river because I starved or burned before.

I played around 10~15 games and I still lost completely, and I don’t see how it is even theoretically possible to beat the game, even with luck on your side.

But I was very motivated, so I downloaded your source code, and doubled the max energy, hunger, and recovery by eating or sleep. And I still lost 5 times! (Finally found the river, but I didn’t have enough time to build the raft.) So I instead multiplied everything by three and finally I finished it.

Also, you added cool sound effects, but I almost didn’t hear them at first (their volume is too low).

Anyway good job! I just hope next time you will tone down the difficulty. x)

This is a really cool concept, but the game is very very hard. It is really tough to beat, I would love to have a crafting manual, and that eating don't cost energy/food. The art is simple and it don't have music but still it was fun.

Game graphics are very basic and game look like "My first game", but there is complicated system of mechanics hiding under it. Team up with some artist! :D

Game itself is hard to understand the beginning (even though I read the instructions) and difficulty level is pretty high (I did my best and still died due to RNG or my mistake that I didn't noticed)

Good job at submitting a game!

Would you like to play and rate our game? I would love to get your feedback so I can improve!

cool game, it is a bit difficult, but i think with a quick tutorial it would remedy that.

This is very cool. I really like this idea and this design. The game was a bit difficult to understand in the beginning, and some of the things were hard to figure out/discover, but the crafting interactions and the menace of the fire and hunger and tiredness are great.

Even after discovering things like fire and baking bread, the game was still quite hard for me. I feel like there may be some tricks that I'm missing, but I haven't been able to even make it to the river so far. I feel like this is one I may come back to in order to see what other interactions I can explore.

The thing about this game is that there area always more resources! Getting a fire early and then traveling til your hunger/energy gets low is a great strategy.

If you're really strapped for resources I suggest getting a flail in a forest. Its stick + fiber + stick and has the ability 'thresh' which, when used in a plains environment (the brown squiggle), will net you a bunch of easy wheat! So if you've got a forest and a plains next to each other all you really need is a rock to smash the wheat and you're perfect!
